I am dying for an Ottawa - Winnipeg Stanley Cup Final, and I’d love for the Senators to win.

That has to be the matchup that Gary Bettman and ESPN want the least, and I think it would be a huge boost for hockey fans north of the border (not that they need one after the Four Nations win )

I also have a huge soft spot for the Senators and their fans. They’re the “other” team whose biggest rivals are Montreal and Toronto (except for them it’s Toronto first and Montreal second), and a Sens Stanley Cup win would be a huge poke in the eye to the Leafs and Habs. The fans over on the Sens board have never been anything but nice to me every time I’ve posted there and they treat me like family. That’s why I’m rooting for Ottawa.

1) Colorado - Went to grad school in Boulder, was there for the Bourque trade and the Cup the following year. I’m also the biggest UMass (undergrad) honk here and Makar is my dude. Plus, Charlie Coyle. And if Landeskog actually makes it back from his injury and contributes meaningfully, rename the Masterton Trophy after him.

2) Ottawa for Linus and because they’re such an underdog. And because only a dozen people outside of HF Boards would watch.

3) Minnesota for the same reason as Ottawa.

4) Edmonton - after last year, I totally changed my view on McDavid. One of the all time greatest playoff performances showed he’s much more than just a regular season point producer.

5) Florida for Marchy and the draft pick improvement.

6-12) in no particular order, I’m fairly indifferent about Carolina, New Jersey, Vegas, LA, Winnipeg, Tampa, Washington. I also think Tampa is the team coming out of the east.

13-16) in no way, shape or form do I want any of these for teams to win so much as a faceoff, while getting swept in the first round.

Dallas - I’ll never forgive Tyler Seguin for destroying the Bs room and I hate the city and loathe their neon green. Plus, the North Stars should have never left Minnesota. I’ll throw in the JFK assassination for good measure. Yeah, eff everything about Dallas, TX.

St. Louis - eff that team, eff their coach who half-assed his way out of here to get the Blues job, eff Jordan Binnington especially. Goddamn little dingleberry.

Montreal and Toronto - no explanation necessary. Phenomenal cities, lovely citizenry, and the worst fans. As @Jean_Jacket41 always says, “1993 (and 1967) forever!”

Going Montreal because it’s a great city and Jeff Gorton such a good person (the Gorton’s have Bruins seats row 1 first balcony behind net and I’ve been fortunate to sit in them including this season)

As a former Monarchs ticket holder I’ll cheer for the Kings. If not them, then maybe Colorado or Vegas.

As for the east, I think familiarity breeds contempt, I don’t like any of them. I guess I’ll cheer for Florida to make the conference finals, but that’s just to benefit us, after that I hope they get swept.

Personally, I don't care who wins the cup as long as it's not one of Montreal, Toronto, or St. Louis - for obvious reasons.
Otherwise, any of the other teams could win and I could care less.

I'm just looking forward to watching some playoff hockey.
Seeing which team or players elevate their game.
If there is a team that plays Cinderella this year.
Which favorites are eliminated early by an underdog.
Or who will survive Tampa vs Florida, Colorado ve Dallas, or Edmonton vs Los Angeles?
At least three very good teams will be gone after the first round.
And then seeing how things shake out.
It will be fun to watch, especially with not being emotionally invested in any one club.
