By media outlets, I am specifying press organizations which release/discuss hockey news, and not rumour mills/fan blogs/Reddit, etc.

Examples would be The Hockey News, NHL.com, The Athletic, TSN, etc. or even specific reporters/insiders.
Categories involved could be Print, Television, Podcast/Radio, Digital Streaming.

I think you all get the idea... preferred news outlets/insider personalities, please.

The best podcast is The Puck Podcast, so you allow or disallow that? Running for 18+ years now, one of its biggest strengths is precisely that it's not an output of a "press organization". (Those are known for a stifling atmosphere, direct or indirect censorship – auto-censorship, etc.)

what if I want news on golfing, sandbaggers and Irish traveller updates?
Elliotte Friedman?

This can be heavily team based. Max Bultman is solid gold as The Athletic Wings beat person. I like The Athletic in general for a lot of their coverage. Winged Wheel Podcast (I wonder how no free ads Evan feels about this) really are very enjoyable and have a good balance of buddies and differing hockey views.

Nationally it really depends on who is the guest, I listened to Overdrive a decent amount out of Toronto because I generally enjoy those guys. Eliteprospects is a great place in terms of looking players up. Black Book for hockeyprospect.com is probably my most trusted.

In terms of news? Doesn't matter, they all get the same news within 10min of one another anyway.

In terms of opinions? That would be more interesting, since right now I don't really have anyone whose opinions I particularly care about. I think there should be demand for NHL opinion pieces that aren't all about being a fan club for a particular organization, but either I haven't found one or they just don't exist.

I used to pay for a subscription to the Athletic. They lost me as a customer by letting Craig Morgan go. Not that I’m saying he’s a great writer or anything, but he was the only person on staff who covered the Coyotes.

Past that, I don’t read any mainstream media sources for the NHL. If anything noteworthy happens, a thread gets posted about it on here usually within 15 minutes. Then I can discuss the topic with fellow fans in the thread. That’s how I keep up with the NHL these days.

The Hockey Guy and HFBoards

I'll consider paying for hockey journalism when they prove it's worth buying. I say that as a former sports writer who covered hockey

Everything gets posted here for free and The Hockey Guy is unbiased and actually watches the games. I am complete

SportsNet is a very clean website. User friendly, quick, not bogged down by ads. I use their box scores on my computer while I'm watching the game on tv. But being a Blues fan, my only issue is the coverage/stories/columns are mostly on just the Canadian teams. I don't mind that much, because I do like it when Canadian teams do well. I'm a nostalgic old fart.

I also do visit NHL.com, but the layout & functions aren't as smooth as SportsNet. And the NHL phone app is horrible. I do wish SportsNet would make a phone app.

Don't focus on much as it's washed up or glamorized.

15+ years ago I recall steve kouleas used to have a show on the score that seemed as realistic as they come.
