Impact CCL Final >>>>> Det vs TB

ainec

Would rather watch paint dry then watch soccer.

Go wings go!

I just don't get the soccer tournament thing

why are we there? why are we in the finals? didn't the impact sucked last year in MLS? who's in that concacaf thing and why? why aren't the big euro teams we all know about not in it? why should I care if the big teams aren't in it? who's the opponent and why aren't they in the MLS, why are they important, are they good? why are we beating them if we suck?

soccer confuses me almost as much as boxing titles

Who really would rather watch this game over the most important sporting event in Montreal since the Habs won the cup in 93?

If Impact wins, they will play in another tournament with all the 'big' clubs you're talking about.

Even if you dislike watching soccer, you should still watch that game. This is huge for the city, the sport in Canada...have some open mind and care about other sports too when the event is that big.

Guys, we have our own thread. Some people don't care about soccer, just like I don't care about baseball. We don't need to bother them (even though I do it in the Expos thread  )

I want the Red Wings and I think they'll win. Babcock will, again, outcoach Cooper. He's the difference maker.

Edit: @Bask:

To add to what Michelangelo posted, Canadian teams can't qualify for the Champions League through MLS because it's technically an American competition, governed by the US Soccer Federation. Canadian teams qualify through the Canadian Championship. So even if they suck in MLS, as long as they win the canadian tournament, they get the right to represent Canada in the Champions League. So the Impact can compete in up to 4 competitions during the year: MLS, Canadian Championship, the Champions League and if they win that, the Clubs World Cup. Basically, soccer is a worldwide pyramid and club soccer has the Clubs World Cup at its top.

Domestic leagues are to determine who are the best clubs of the country.
Champions League are to determine who are the best clubs of the continent.

In the NHL, 16 out of the 30 teams make the playoffs.

In CONCACAF, the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football, there are 524 professional clubs across various leagues in the region. We are in the CONCACAF Champions League Final, one of the final two standing, along with Mexico's most prestigious club, CF America (you could say that they are Mexican's soccer equivalent of the Montreal Canadiens with their storied history).

We were terrible last season in MLS play. But this year is another year. We are underdogs. We are a cinderella story.

The winner of the CONCACAF Champions League moves on the play in a tournament with the Champions of the other Continents, including Europe (whose champion will be either Bayern Munich / Real Madrid / Barcelona / Juventus).

Say what? I'm a hockey fan, I'd much rather watch the match involving our potential adversaries than soccer. I couldn't care less about the Impact, the MLS or the CONCACAF.

I'm glad we have a team that's doing well in another major sport, but really soccer isn't for me unless I'm playing with my friends.

I don't owe the Impact anything and shouldn't feel forced to watch it because "it's a big event".

I'm not forcing anyone to watch it but i'm kinda tired to hear the "soccer is boring" argument. I'm happy some people aren't doing that treatment to hockey in smaller markets because it's easy for an american to say i don't care about hockey, the NHL, the Stanley Cup, etc when they prefer baseball, football or basketball.

Anyway that's my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, I'll probably switch between the two games. It's a pretty big game for the Impact. 60 000 people at the stadium, it's gonna be epic.

But it's true that soccer is boring... They should implement some changes to increase the tempo. I don't care much about scoring, but when your team shoots only 5 or 6 times... ehh... not much going on.
