Who are the best U21 players in the world?

This ranking would have made sense a year ago or so.
Right now it's ridiculous.

Cherki is making a mockery of the EL and L1. He's having an alltime season. His stats kill Wirtz' in every single category except goal scoring.
Doue is destroying the competition since january, L1 or CL and is drawing Neymar comparisons.
Akliouche is incredible and is borderline top 10 and right now, he's probably more of a top 10 than Gavi, Pavlovic or others.

Oh and Neves is statistically the best midfielder in the world. Stats can only go so far, but ranking him 5th is a travesty. He's right now MUCH higher than WZE and Xavi Simons. Heck, he's way better than Jude too.

Dude I watch more football than it's healthy (for sure more than ESPN writers) and I saw Akliouche maybe three times in his career.

This was my thinking also, it feels super outdated (which, especially with young players where so much can change, becomes very jarring). Mainoo and Garnacho jump out most badly in this regard.

Doue at 25 is plainly abominable. The worst ranking here. Although Rico Lewis ahead of both Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly (and Lewis-Skelly ahead of Nwaneri, for that matter) is also really f***ing egregious.

Just realized also that Adam Wharton isn't even on the list (thought maybe he'd turned 22, but nope still 21), and Mainoo is at 15?

From a Chelsea perspective, Gusto but no Lavia is bad. Lavia struggles with fitness, obviously, but when he plays I think he's easily Top 10 here. Whereas Gusto has had a poor year.

Curious who the third german would be if the list is long enough to include Gruda, Wanner, Bischof, Darvich, Ouedraogo, Rothe, Jeltsch, Urbig, etc. Bischof, Wanner, Jeltsch, or Urbig are making the jump to the senior level most successfully this season, while Darvich and Ouedraogo arguably have the highest potential.

Mouki and Brunner stalling at the senior level has been disappointing, though german scorers have been needing a little longer than german creatives in recent years...see Füllkrug, Kleindienst, Undav, Burkardt, Woltemade, etc.

Anyway here's my top 39. Flame away :D

Tel barely plays. He was very good in the supposed "good league" Buli.
Good to know Wharton is better than Yamal because he plays in a better league.

Cherki is torching the EL and Doue is shining in the CL. Neves is arguably the best player in the CL. Simmons? Lol.

I really don’t get the Simmons hard on.

Anyway any mention of garnacho should null and void the list.

OK give me a stat that shows otherwise?

Man you need to watch other teams than Barca.
Are his 1 goal and 1 assist enough? You know when there are players with 11 goals and 5 assists in this edition? I rate Neves, again, I had him fifth, but let's not go crazy, he's maybe the third best player on PSG.

Hardly enough no.
You have to try better than that.
