Make your own IIHF ranking, but how it actually should look like if you are doing the list.

1: Canada
2; Finland
3: USA
4: Russia
5: Czechia
6: Slovakia
7: Germany
8: Switzerland
9: Sweden
10: Denmark

Thats my to 10. USA and Finland is better than ever but i still have Canada as the nr 1 hockey nation in the world. Russia is banned but cant ignore they are still a hockey power. Slovakia is having a great young generation and will climb on the list. Same with Germany.

Please, keep it civil.

7,8,9 are pretty interchangeable. I’m going primarily off recent Olympics. And I believe an argument could be made for any order with those 3. Denmark at 10 comfortably, their top end forward talent is better than anyone below by a wide margin.

If this applies to the entirety of your list, how is the position of the US in any way justified?

Only ranked teams with a recent top-four finish.

1. Canada
2. Finland
3. Sweden
4. Russia
5. USA
6. Czechia
7. Switzerland
8. Slovakia
9. Germany

What is the argument for Sweden to be ranked above USA/Russia/Switzerland/Czechia/Germany/Slovakia?

Sweden produces lesser talents than those nations. Does worse in tournament. And has lesser talents in NHL.

The most important is best on best. Sweden would be eaten alive by Germany, Czechia and Slovakia in a best on best tournament. How many swedes would be good enough to take a roster spot in Germany, Czechia and Slovakia? 3?

Czechs will gladly take all 6 of your D.

Take markstrom and lehner.

About 6 of your forwards... Maybe more.lol.

Going the other way... I think only Pasta is a lock to make team Sweden. Maybe Hertl.

Not trolling. How are Karlsson, Hedman, Dahlin, OEL etc better in their own zone than Gudas, Hronek, Rutta etc?
Lol, Hronek is one of the league's worst defenders on the defense I have ever seen. Rutta is also not very good at defending.
One thing is for sure, you must be a troll. You probably enjoy writing nonsense about Swedish hockey and then having fun by convincing you otherwise. Then there is the second option and that is that you are an ordinary clown:laugh:

Im neither of that. Its just that people tend to overate swedish d. People look at the offensive skills but forget that being d is first and firemost about defending. Swedish d is not physical enough either.

Hronek and Rutta are better than you give them credit for.

Well, then you just don't understand hockey. I've seen Hronek play many times, I know what Wings fans write about him. So if you write about him that he is better at defense than the Swedish defenders, the first sentence will undoubtedly apply.:snide:
And I have nothing more to add to this further unnecessary discussion, maybe just ..

Gudas is the only decent Czech defensemen you listed and thats not saying much, hes still not as good as any of those Swedish D. Hronek and Rutta are terrible in their own zones lol

Your obsession with downplaying Sweden internationally would be amusing if it wasn't so sad.

Stockholm syndrome with a twist.

Lindholm, Hedman, Ekholm, Brodin. I wouldn’t take any other countries shut down defencemen over that. All of them are good with the puck too. And Sweden also have elite playmaking defencemen with good defence like Dahlin, Klingberg and Karlsson. I hate that offensively skilled defencemen are automatically assumed to not be good defensively because they have skill. Play driving defencemen are more valuable than primarilly defensive defensemen too of course.

Overall, I would say

1. Canada
2. USA
3. Sweden
4. Russia
5. Finland
6. Czech Republic
7. Switzerland
8. Germany
9. Slovakia
10. Latvia

I would have Latvia slightly above Denmark, but it is very close. I think Latvia have a deeper roster but with a bit less high end talent.

Its always funny how people overestimate the USA team. They have a lot of quality players yes, but the fact is that they haven´t achieved anything for decades. Period. So placing them as a second is just laughable. They should be placed as fifth.

Finland is the best hockey nation and Finland is also #1 in the world ranking so that's the objective truth as well.

As for the shared second place, I'm not sure who really cares. I guess Canada's the best of the rest.
