who’s the most polarizing player on your team?

I'd argue it's Mike Matheson. Some people can't wait to get rid of him while others see him as a minute muncher on a value contract.

I think people have generally warmed to Josh Anderson. He seems to have all the pressure off of him since transitioning to a more traditional bottom 6 role.

...that's why I picked him; because of the change he's made and the way the fan base has MOSTLY changed their tune on him...

Matheson and Xhekaj are very good answers for the Habs. I initially thought of Slafkovsky but it's mostly because of 1 particular poster who's been making discussions around Slaf miserable for the past few years.

Probably Owen power. Half the fanbase thinks he is turning into something big and just needs the right partner. The other half think we should trade him before the rest of the league catches on that he isn't very good.

I think its Bouchard. Not many are still Stu Skinner fans. And his play is such that it isn't polarizing, as much as it is just not good enough.

Bouchard, on the other hand, is polarizing in both his play, and in his popularity with fans. He's near elite offensively, but makes a number of bad defensive gaffs, and fans either appreciate his offensive contributions and know he produces at a #1D pace, or they hate him and think he's the worst defenseman on the team.
That's fair

Obviously Pettersson, but when Miller was here, I'd argue he was more polarizing (because most people agree when Pettersson's playing awful).
Seemed like Hoglander inspired a lot of debate, but maybe that was just when he was rumored to be on the trade block earlier this season

sadly with Buffalo it seems both tend to be true. He could turn into something big, but it would probably happen after they traded him.

Absolutely Mitch Marner for the Leafs.

If you want to see probably the most toxic threads, especially in an individual team's board, check out the many (because they keep getting shut down) threads about him.

They include some of the most bizarre arguments and stat-picking on both sides of the various discussions.

No one anymore, really- at least on our board. Most agree that Michkov, TK, and Sanheim are good and pretty much everyone else sucks ass. On Facebook it's probably a different story

Surprised you didn't say Barkov? Haha

Why we would I say Barkov?

He's been one of my favourite players on the team since he was drafted. I was getting annoyed with him a couple of years ago for being too tepid. I think only a handful of people at most on the board said that as well/implied their concerns about him as well.

Hardly polarising when the vast majority of the board love him.

Ekblad is a better answer as it seems more of a 50/50 split.

Marner is totally the answer, but any of the Leafs' core has at least an Honorable Mention argument.

Matthews is a Hart Trophy winner and best player in team history, who sadly has not found that success in big games.

Nylander is a total hot or not. Pretty well liked I would say, but has a lot of controller disconnected moments that make you pull your hair out.

Tavares is basically exactly as advertised and there's nothing wrong with him whatsoever as a player - there's just panic over his cap hit and opportunity cost.

Rielly just isn't the all-situation 1D we dreamed he could become. Still a great player who carries himself so well, to the extent he's a bubble candidate for the Olympics, but just not exactly exceeding expectations. In his defense though TO always blames their 1Ds for their problems.

That's because he is crazy good at passing/skating/breakouts and absolutely abysmal at defense. He is the same player he has always been and has made zero strides in developing into an all around defensemen. Many think he will never put an effort in to his defensive game because he really hasn't yet. The biggest factor for me is that the Sabres can't develop players to their full potential. Can't see Power being any different.

You nailed it. That being said I think it's almost impossiboe to learn a lethal offensive game than being solid at defense. But the Player has to have the work ethic to improve his weakness on his own end. I can't see that willingness to improve his defensive game in Power so far.

Power is a defenseman so his core task is his biggest weakness in his game. Too bad, he could be one hell of a player.
