who’s the most polarizing player on your team?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

My best guess is that it’s Sean Durzi for Utah. Which is unfortunate for him because I personally chalk up some of his poor play lately to not being fully recovered from an injury that had him out for a while.

Stuart Skinner has seized the crown from Nurse after Nurse has had a pretty good year. Bouchard is not far behind
I think its Bouchard. Not many are still Stu Skinner fans. And his play is such that it isn't polarizing, as much as it is just not good enough.

Bouchard, on the other hand, is polarizing in both his play, and in his popularity with fans. He's near elite offensively, but makes a number of bad defensive gaffs, and fans either appreciate his offensive contributions and know he produces at a #1D pace, or they hate him and think he's the worst defenseman on the team.

Josh "Stone Hands" Anderson

...finally found his niche as a Bottom Six Banger even though he was traded for and paid to be a Top Six Power Forward...

I'd argue it's Mike Matheson. Some people can't wait to get rid of him while others see him as a minute muncher on a value contract.

I think people have generally warmed to Josh Anderson. He seems to have all the pressure off of him since transitioning to a more traditional bottom 6 role.

Kreider
Zibanejad
Panarin

To a lesser extent, Fox and Trocheck

I can't decide who's the most polarizing. The Rangers forum is a war zone of both hate and love of these players. Pre-trade deadline, it was 100% Lindgren.

for the Avalanche there aren't too many options because the team is on fire and there's mostly a lot of consensus around player performances. Everyone agrees that Cale Makar is very good and Miles Wood is very bad.

Maybe the most polarizing player is Scott Wedgewood, since some fans are saying that he's outplayed Blackwood this season (true) and should start playoff games (debatable). Honestly I'm happy with either option because both goalies have done quite well in Avalanche silks, especially in comparison to their predecessors

Gibson maybe? If it were us and other fan bases it would be Zegras in a landslide but it’s pretty unanimous amongst Ducks fans who watch the games that he already is/going to be a player.

Agreed mostly but instead of Wedgewood I will suggest Sam Girard.

Yeah, some people still don't think he's good at defense.

If anything, I wish he was better at offense.

From what I've seen of him this season, which admittedly isn't a lot, I consider his defense "adequate" when he's in his own zone. Not sure about his play in defending in transition. I'd also call him very good offensively and he can drive breakouts very well.

For the Flyers it used to be Morgan Frost. The knuckle-dragger fans didn't like him, but the fans that cared about on-ice results did.

Don't really have any polarizing guys left though. I would say the majority of the fanbase now agrees on who sucks and who doesn't.

Torts was extremely polarizing but he's a goner now.

For the Avs, Sam Girard. Excellent puck mover and skater who is able to execute Bednar's defensive scheme very well but will get brushed aside by a slight breeze when the going gets tough against a heavy forecheck.

He also personally hates players shorter than 6' and will seek out conflict with them regularly.

Nik Ehlers is pretty polarizing around the league. Many Jets fans think he is as good or better than Kyle Connor. Others see an oft injured 60 point player who at times can be a bit careless with the puck. Some people will quote pt/60 and some people look at absolute numbers.

He's been slightly down this year but at his peak he was as good a defender as anyone. He's been used as an offensive defenseman but I think he'd be even better if his partner was more of a puck carrier. Fox is very good in both zones but he's slow, so carrying is his worst attribute.

Tristan Jarry for the Penguins.

Previous 5, back to being an all-star. Last game, 3 goals on 4 shots.

I don't think it gets much more polarizing than him.

I’d say that Kyrou is the most divisive within the Blues’ fandom. He had been a purely offensive player for the last couple seasons, but he’s made some positive strides in 2025 on his defensive game.

Back in 2023, Kyrou wasn’t sorry enough when Berube got fired, so fans booed him and he got choked up about it. Some fans still dislike him for it, which is stupid.
Yep it is Kyrou hands down. A small but loud portion of the fanbase has decided they hate him and use any opportunity to disparage him despite what he is doing on the ice.
