Calgary's weather isn't that different than Edmonton ....when it's -30 in Edmonton, it's -27 in CalgaryEntirely fair. I think the current state of Calgary's team is precarious at best. And playing with McDavey and Drats does give you a real shot at a Cup. But i've seen a lot of "well the weather is awful" with Calgary that equates it with like...Edmonton and Winnipeg, that isn't entirely accurate.

I mean, today for example is a 3 degree difference FFS
also, Calgary is notorious for getting earlier snowfalls due to higher elevation
I've lived in Alberta my entire life, have family in Calgary and visit there several times a year... and the whole "climate" thing between the 2 cities is extremely overrated...in terms of snow, yes Edmonton on average gets more snow (which attributes to the much more brown, tree-less hellscape that is Calgary in the summer...while Edmonton is much greener and lush)As someone quite familiar with both cities, it absolutely is very different. Some days, the temperature may be similar...like today i guess. But the character of the winter weather overall is very different. Biggest thing is, Calgary tends to get all of it's snow in big dumps. Then it gets warmer and bright and sunny and most of it melts off the roads and sidewalks and whatnot. And then there are the Chinooks where it switches to like t-shirt weather for a day or two and the whole place thaws out.
Whereas Edmonton remains more of a constantly frozen hellscape for the most part. There's an absolutely massive difference between the "swingy" weather of Calgary and an average of 88 snowy days per year, vs Edmonton that stays more frozen and dreary more often, with an average of 141 snow days per year. That's nearing double the "snowy days". That makes an enormous difference imo.
Not to mention that few degrees difference holds consistently over the average. That also makes a difference. But especially in the way Calgary gets more warmer days as a part of that. 'Cause let's be honest...-30 vs -27 barely makes a difference at that point, it's just bitter cold either way. But 0 and sunny vs -5 and flurries does make a big difference.
They're still absolutely both "winter weather" cities and there are gonna be days that just suck. Just saying, they get lumped in together a lot (also with Winnipeg), when they aren't actually that similar as an experience imo.
Dead end teams and Edmonton in the same sentence... gotta love the take there. I really need some of what your smoking this weekendBuffalo, Columbus, Detroit, Edmonton, Minnesota, NYI, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Utah, Winnipeg
Dead-end teams in undesirable locations
That's funny you say that. Lived in both cities. It snows earlier in Calgary, and melts later in Calgary from what I came across. The few extra warmer days in winter is such a moot point, it's not even noticeable. It's literally the same weather. As someone quite familiar with both cities, it absolutely is very different.
