Who’s on your 10 team no-trade list?

the one that surprises me that everyone is picking is columbus. played in a few tournaments out there and had a great time. Looked like the most normalest normal place in the country.

Well they suck. That’s why I picked em. You get to pick new teams each year. If someday they don’t look like they suck, I’d remove them from my fantasy hypothetical list.

Also from my perspective, it’s a privilege to play most places. They are one of those franchises that I had to pick to get to ten. I think I probably only have a 7 or 8 team actual list.

Not many surprises here:

Buffalo, Ottawa, Winnipeg first on the list. No explanation necessary is there?

Then:
Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Minnesota. I'm a Canadian so I can handle winters. But like Toronto winters.
Boston. Arch enemy.
Columbus, Utah. Had to come up with two more so took the least-inspiring places (to me at least) on the list. Though I could easily swap out Utah for say Carolina given Utah has some incredible scenery at least.

Buffalo, Detroit, NY Islanders, Winnipeg. Only ones I picked.

Islanders seemed doomed to the mushy middle for awhile, Buffalo is aimless, Detroit also seems like they are spinning their wheels & it's dangerous, Winnipeg has a great team but cold place to live (sorry WPG).

I'm gonna try to go over it, and I'm gonna do my best to leave fan/rivalry bias aside. I'm not gonna say I don't wanna go somewhere just because I hate the team, it might be because I think they aren't set up well or I just don't like the climate or city.

Buffalo - Dumpster fire and really don't wanna be in that climate.

Calgary - Wouldn't wanna be in that climate and not particularly good.

Chicago - Wouldn't wanna be in that climate and too much of a black eye that I really wouldn't wanna be associated with that franchise.

Columbus - Wouldn't wanna be in that climate and not particularly good.

Detroit - Wouldn't wanna be in that climate and not particularly good.

Montreal - Wouldn't wanna be in that climate and not particularly good.

Nashville - Dumpster fire.

NYI - Future looks bleak right now.

NYR - I wouldn't have had them on this a bit ago, but currently a dumpster fire. If not for the current dumpster fire I would consider it because of Igor.

Seattle - Don't like the climate and just not good.

There are a few just not good team or no future teams where I wouldn't mind living if I had to. Anaheim and San Jose being those. And there's a few places I wouldn't wanna live but wouldn't mind being there for hockey reasons. Winnipeg because of Hellebuyck. Ottawa because they seem like they could be good soon and Toronto because they're competitive. Wouldn't wanna live in any of those cities though.

But this one in particular, i've seen with others as well. I feel like a lot of people think Calgary has the weather than Edmonton does...but it really doesn't. It's actually the sunniest city in Canada and it has far more "swingy" weather, rather than just the bleak unrelenting cold dark winter of Edmonton. It's still very definitely winter, and there's lots of snow (in big dumps usually). Some days are just obscenely cold, but it also has mostly just a lot of chilly but only slightly sort of days and no snow anywhere you might actually want to walk or drive. It's not like Edmonton's just constant barrage of awful winter conditions and snow and ice everywhere.

I'd much rather be in Edmonton (or WInnipeg) than Anaheim, which is why Edmonton and Winnipeg weren't on my list, but most of the cold cities with poor performing teams were.

Anaheim wasn't on mine either (they probably would have been 11th though), but I think I'd rather there be there than in Buffalo for the climate factor.

Entirely fair. I think the current state of Calgary's team is precarious at best. And playing with McDavey and Drats does give you a real shot at a Cup. But i've seen a lot of "well the weather is awful" with Calgary that equates it with like...Edmonton and Winnipeg, that isn't entirely accurate.

The funny thing is when you talk to the players who have or do play in
Winnipeg they love it . The weather "sometimes "can get really cold but they like how the team is run they love the arena and fans and the general overall atmosphere .
Hockey matters to people here and the players feed off of it .

I love nature, plain land and winter. So no Canada teams on my list.

Favorite location would be California or Florida teams, Texas or Montreal.

1. Buffalo - every single reason but beyond the team being bad and Pegula being a trainwreck, I'm just not a fan of the city or the people.
2-5. Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto - Don't like the locale combined with fish bowl atmosphere surrounding the teams.
6. Dallas - Really not a fan of Texas or many of its people at all, sorry.
7-8. Florida, Tampa Bay - Same deal as with Texas.

That's it really. I guess if forced, I'd probably add Columbus, St. Louis or Boston to the list, but don't have a huge problem with those spots. I'm really just not a mid-tier city kind of guy at all, nor do I like the midwest or south all that much. It's just hard when you live in the Northeast US / tri-state area, everywhere else seems kind of provincial and dinky. Not meant as a slight but just saying how it feels to me. And yes, I've traveled to every single NHL city.

Wouldn't want to live in any of those cities. Would've picked Edmonton over Calgary or Ottawa but the Cup potential is too tempting.

If any of these cities were legitimate Cup contenders I would of course give it a pass if I was a player, would be worth way more than not liking the weather where I'm working for a few years.
