I wouldn't mind playing anywhere else. MTL is at the bott of standings but I love their strip clubs. Love the weather in Cali so wouldn't mind SJ or Anaheim.

The hard Nos:
Rangers
Devils
Islanders
Penguins

Yes, all Flyers rivals, but I genuinely don’t enjoy being in NYC (it’s the only place I’ve ever been where I felt claustrophobic), and if I’m going to be in PA, I’d just rather be in Philly.

Cultural mismatches:
Dallas
Florida
Nashville
Carolina
Columbus

I might waive for any of these, but I’m not interested in living there. Tampa gets a pass that Miami doesn’t because I have family in the Orlando area, at least for now.

I’d just feel awkward:
Chicago

Yeah, I know, PC run amok, but between the assault incident and the logo, I just don’t feel great about it. Shame, because I have a friend in the area, a musician, who actually performed for the organization at various points, but I’d just be conflicted. I’d still probably waive if I was getting sent down otherwise, or if I was already on one of the other teams on my list somehow. Chicago comes off and Tampa goes on if my family moves.

95% of posts here havent given much though to this at all or have not the slightest clue what an NHL schedule looks like.

Lets thinks this through.

82 game season = 41 road 41 home.

Fly into your city around late august early September and for most teams end in April-May. So really 3-5 months max you actually live in that city and half of that is spring/fall weather.

Ive seen a lot of Edmonton which is hilarious. These supposed hockey fanatics would trade the opportunity to play on Stanley Cup finalists and potentially 2 of the greatest players of all time for 2 months of nice weather.

LMAO
It’s a job. My order of priority is my family’s happiness, maxing my earnings, and then craving accolades and awards. That’s vanity. If I’m a guy looking at $2-5M take home in my narrow window of a career and wanting a positive family life for the decades that follow my career, why would I prioritize a Cup?

Don't discount the myriad guys who get jobs years longer than they ought to because they have Cup-winning pedigree. Stretching that narrow window into a wider one might offset the other factors.

Nothing against Canada or their citizens but I don't want to live there so its an easy start to the convo.

Then throw in Philly, Buffalo and DC.

All Canadian teams & Seattle are the only ones I’d be vehemently opposed to. Then I also wouldn’t be crazy about Buffalo, Detroit, Minnesota, or Washington.

I would want to play for Florida, Vegas, Dallas, or SoCal teams.
