Carolina, Chicago, Columbus, Detroit, New Jersey, New York ISL, New York RAN, Utah, Vegas, Washington. Could have easily added 5 more.

Surprisingly as a Habs fan, not on my no-trade list: Boston, Ottawa, Toronto.

All the cities where hockey isn’t king. So all the southern USA markets to start. It would be way more fun playing in a Canadian market or a USA market where hockey is king. Lots of juice from the city. Couldn’t imagine playing in those markets where people don’t care about the club.

If any of those teams wants to give me a 3-year ELC worth almost $3m, I'll happily take it. It could even work in your advantage if you are going for a 1st overall draft pick.

Well you’re about 3x more likely to be murdered in the USA.
The chances of a professional hockey player being murdered regardless of where they live are beyond minuscule, so it’s just kinda funny that it’s something someone would name as a consideration in a theoretical no trade clause. Which, to be fair, the previous poster didn’t do — you did

This one was tough because I'd be cool with playing for almost any of the teams

Ended up voting (alphabetical order): Carolina, Columbus, Minnesota, Nashville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Seattle, St. Louis, Utah, Washington

Top considerations, if I'm being objective...

A lot of cold is bad - Winnipeg/Calgary in particular stand out
French speaking is scary - Montreal is probably no (I personally speak French, but i'm saying in general)
High taxes is bad - and that's usually Canadian teams. So rest of Canada goes. That's 7 total.
Playing for Tortorella sounds like a nightmare - no to Philly
I hate Boston Bruins, no to them
Since I needed a 10th team, I added NY Islanders. NYC is high pressure, and Patrick Roy would be a very difficult coach to play for. I love him as a fan, but if I was a player, it'd probably be less apeealing.

I wouldn't really mind a losing culture, depending on where I'm at in my career. If Im just trying to break out in the NHL, playing for a low pressure city like Buffalo or Columbus isn't really a bad thing.

I was tempted to add Vegas, but didn't. I LOVE Las Vegas the city - but living there sounds like I might be a bit too tempted to party too often lol.

If I was someone like McDavid who was an established NHL star about to land a big UFA contract and I could be extra selective/wanted to win, my choices would be different.

Not that surprising. Boston is an absolutely wonderful city and Toronto – huge as it is – has really nice 'burbs and a cool hub (if you don't mind the driving).

I put Ottawa on my list because I needed a 10th choice, but I lived there in the 90s and liked the city. Not too big, easy to commute, with some very nice areas.

The chances of professional hockey players being cold are also beyond minuscule, because they can afford warmer jackets and heated driveways. Therefore players have no valid argument against Canadian climates.

Seriously, facts are facts. Someone who values climate may not want to live in some Canadian cities, while someone who values lifestyle/security may not want to live in some US cities.

Iceland II the hotter crappier version.
I went the California teams... screw California
Toronto, Edmonton and Montreal with Vancouver and Ottawa making it if I had a couple more spots.
Buffalo, Detroit, New Jersey and Pittsburgh... I mean it's right there in the name... Pit :sarcasm:

Columbus would have been on their list, but of this year I took them off... but I'm terrible so maybe the nicer thing would to keep them on.

3 New York area teams, don’t want to live in New York I dislike that whole area.

2 Florida teams, Dallas, 3 Cali teams, Utah. I’d want to play in places that really care about hockey. Taxes not a consideration, weather not a consideration.
