Imagine you’re an NHL player and your contract includes a 10-team no-trade list. Who are the 10 teams you won’t accept a trade to?

It can be for any reason, but try to think realistically in terms of your pro hockey career and life outside of hockey, not just “10 teams I hate as a fan”. These are places you wouldn’t want to be a part of the organization, or wouldn’t want to live as a personal choice.

Remember to pick 10 teams — it’s a 10 team list, not fewer!

Curious about the consensus on this, as there is always a lot of speculation about which organizations are on these lists.

Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Edmonton, NJ, NYI, NYR, Philly, Pitt, Vegas. Personal preference of where I wouldn't want to live as well as teams on a downward trend.

Buffalo, Calgary, Detroit, Edmonton, Ottawa, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Utah, Washington, Winnipeg

Pretty much boils down to wanting to live in other cities more. I’ve enjoyed my time in some of these places. But yeah, give me good weather or NYC if it really comes down to it.

Maybe it's me, but I wouldn't reject playing for any

The only team I can think of for me is Buffalo and that's just because of how things have gone for the past few years.

There's Winnipeg because of the weather, as I'm not a multi-millionaire.

Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Washington, Columbus - these teams only because I googled most dangerous cities in America and those appeared, but I'd be rich and wouldn't live in the shitty areas in those cities.

New York Rangers and Islanders... just because ? Rangers are slipping and the Islanders might need to rebuild soon.

Edmonton uhhh because McDavid isn't signed long-term.

As expected some teams have more votes than others, but the lack of any single consensus option is interesting. Like Buffalo and Winnipeg are not on 23% of people’s NTC lists so far. If the player community reflects this distribution at all, it would seem there’s no team that’s truly out of the running when it comes to NTCs.

Buffalo, Calgary, Columbus, Islanders, Philadelphia, Utah, Winnipeg.

-Buffalo and Columbus are perpetual losers
-Calgary and Winnipeg are places I wouldn’t want to live
-Islanders seem to always have a boring team that I wouldn’t want to play on
-Philadelphia sports fans are awful
-couldn’t handle the no drinking or partying life in weirdo Utah

Is this just the insult a city and their people thread? Because I’m all for it

For me it would be all about which franchises are poorly run or have a bleak future. I would want to be a part of something successful.

It's mostly Canada.

Canada's cold.
Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton sure. The rest of the Canadian cities are no colder than New York, or Boston, or Philly etc. Minnesota just as bad as those Canadian hell-hole cities too.

Chicago, Colorado, Toronto for team related reasons
Dallas, Florida, Tampa, for location related reasons
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Boston for both reasons

But I'd definitely be angling for a 15 team list or even a 10 team trade list...

all teams in Canada obviously except Vancouver (I guess I could suck it up in Toronto but absolutely nowhere else in Canada)

Colorado because Avs suck

Utah cause ew plus they are called "Hockey Club"

Dallas cause even though I have fond memories of the team in the late nineties I just can't see myself in that city (wish they were in Houston)

Vegas never excited me either and city of degeneracy wouldn't want to raise a family there

Honestly could add more to the list, really wouldn't like to live in either New York or Jersey, Philly or Pittsburgh, Nashville or Columbus or Carolina (even if some of the teams are cool enough)

Basically give me Detroit/Chicago/St Louis/Minnesota in the Midwest, I've grown accustomed enough to the Pacific Northwest, and wouldn't mind Bay Area or Florida or SoCal

On a personal level, I wouldn't want to live in Utah, Winnipeg, Edmonton, New Jersey (Newark), St. Louis, Detroit, or Minnesota.

Also on my no-trade list are Buffalo, Ottawa, and NYI, because I don't like where their organizations are right now.

Buffalo, Calgary, Winnipeg and Minnesota are too cold for me.
Montreal because I don't speak enough French
Utah and Columbus because I'd want a chance at winning
New York Rangers and Philadelphia because I can't stand them
Toronto because I'd hate to live my life under a microscope

I only came up with 6, was pleased that i could still vote. Kind of nice poll, but also kinda stupid; ppl from europe like me i have visited 4 cities in NA, and only 2 of those on this list so im mostly basing my votes on things ive heard and/or weather and/or team.

Calgary, Colorado, Dallas, Edmonton, Ottawa, Utah, Vegas, Winnipeg, Tranna and Montreal. Places I don’t really want to live, except for the last two where I don’t want the media/fan pressure.

Not a fan of massive cities so goodbye the NY teams and Toronto (plus the media headache)

Winnipeg/Edmonton for winter hell holes

Buffalo for winter hell hole and what is that Franchise even doing?

Columbus for kind of the same reason as Buffalo and what is there to do in Columbus?

Montreal for the media

I guess Ottawa just because it’s been really boring when I’ve been there but I’d only add them if I had to pick 10
