WHL trade deadline chatter

Broncos (accidentally) posted on Instagram that they picked up Tyson Galloway from Calgary for Tyson Laventure and a 2026 2nd.
So does that mean they made a deal or did someone back out . Guess we watch bronco lineup tonight to see who is scratched

I'm guessing it's a done deal, but the Broncos media guy accidentally posted it when he wasn't supposed to. Teams collaborate for trades and announce at the same time. Not sure how he would have messed that up.

Laventure allegedly wouldn't report to Calgary, so now it's a three-team deal and he's going to Victoria. Broncos still getting Galloway.

Apparently a 2nd and a 3rd is the going rate this year. Shea Van Olm to Spokane for a 2025 3rd and 2026 2nd plus 06 Forward Cole Wadsworth. Seems like a big overpay, but I'd assume the thought is Van Olm will be a 20 for them next season.

Broncos just made 2 deals
Yup. Laventure to Victoria for a fifth and Galloway from Calgary for a second and a third.

Elite Prospects has Matthew Hodson leaving VIctoria to an unknown destination. Adding Laventure gives them too many 20s, so Hodson may be the odd man out.

Kamloops sends Connor Levis to Vancouver for a 1st, a 2nd and a 4th.

So weird for Lethbridge and Vancouver - both teams in the bottom half of their conferences - to be adding pieces at the deadline. Junior hockey is a wild beast.

Speaking of trades, Conor Geekie had his debut with SC last night and scored in the Broncos' win over Tri-City. He's wearing #96 which looks strange after years of 28!

FTR, the deadline is at 3 p.m. MST, but the league publicly posted its last trade at 6:20 p.m. last year. So it might be 7-8 hours before the last announcement is made today.

Basements trading with the middle packers is an odd deadline trend. GM's needing to show they are at least trying I guess. Or catching them asleep.

Maybe PG is done after picking up Valis from Regina and Portland doesn't think they have holes to fill?

Three-way deal involving Saskatoon, Kelowna and Edmonton:

Justin Ivanusec from Vancouver to Calgary for a 5th
Braeden Wynne from Seattle to Lethbridge for a 7th
Evan May from Medicine Hat to Moose Jaw for a 3rd.

Most of these picks are not 2024 - some are 2026 or 2027. GMs are going to need a spreadsheet to know when their draft picks come due.

Medicine Hat sends Kolby Gapter to Vancouver for an 8th. Gapter is playing in the CSSHL.
Prince Albert sends Hayden Pakkala to Lethbridge for a 3rd.

Again with Lethbridge and Vancouver making additions.

Elite Prospects has Evan Groening going from Brandon to Prince George. Groening currently with Virden of the MJHL.

Wonder why we are waiting for the final word on the Danielson trade.?. Hoax or truth?

Trades usually take time to certify. Last year the final trade didn't get announced until three hours after the deadline.

There it is: Danelson to Portland in exchange for Nicholas Johnson, Rhett Ravndahl, two 1sts and a 5th.

In the same post, we find that Brandon sent the rights to Evan Groening to Prince George for a 10th.

And, I mean, E for effort but the WHL photoshop job on this image is... woof.
