Since you asked: a) I believe it's possible he league doesn't want to come across as biased in favour of the Leafs. When the war room is in Toronto, it would look bad if decisions consistently went the Leafs' way so they err on the side of caution. b) Half the players and thus league management grew up despising the Leafs (you know, just like us plebs - you love them or hate them). c) The Leafs will always have fan support so the league doesn't feel any need to cater to us unlike smaller market teams.

And for fun, d):

You actually believe all that? The first doesn’t make any sense, actually neither does the 2nd, and as a fan of a small market team some fans would say guys got called for “Panthering.” In reality, all teams have calls for and against them that don’t make a ton of sense, the reality is (as true with the nonsense Panthering cries) great teams can overcome the bullshit.

Yes. Leafs got a penalty for this last night:

Leafs should’ve came out in support of the Rangers a couple years back when they released that statement about Paros. Only chance for meaningful change was to get behind that.
They definitely should’ve. Other teams know they can take liberties against the leafs and it’s only a matter of time before someone gets very seriously injured.

The Leafs are the most suspended team in the league since Parros took over DOPS. Do yourself a favour and educate yourself before saying we're crying over nothing. Our guy just took a shot to the head and in reality, the penalties, fines, and suspensions are never on a level playing field. Explain how this hit results in the Leafs on the PK? You'd be furious if that happened to your team.

Lmao educate myself. Reaves got 5 games for that hit on Nurse. 5. Sure, Whitecloud could’ve gotten called, he wasn’t, Leafs were called for the retaliation. It happens all the time, but keep thinking the League is out for Leafland. Panthering didn’t exist, either.

I think it's a bit of a viscous cycle at the moment. I think the NHL is sick of the Leafs constant complaining, and I think the Leafs are sick of the unbalanced discipline handed out to them vs the rest of the league.

It is obvious that there is no relationship between the Leafs and the NHL anymore. There will only be one winner in this situation, and that's the NHL.

I believe it is in both parties interest, to try to gain some middle ground. Have the Leafs fall in line, but in exchange, treat them like the other 31 NHL teams.

I don't see that happening any time soon though.

Reaves hit was a total blindside, Nurse had no idea he was coming. Knies is staring directly at Whitecloud. Thats the difference. Still should have been a penalty, but Leaf fans acting like this is on the same stratosphere as Reaves hit are out to lunch

This league is such a mess. The officiating is terrible, supposedly they’re trying to get cheap hits out of the game, but then they never penalize them. Benn got away with a shot on Carlo the other night too, and they reviewed that one. It’s really on the players association now, they’re the ones that are going to end up paying for it down the road.

Ya I’d be fine with that if it was just more consistent
This is just another goalie interference argument where yes there are some edge cases but it's honestly much more consistent than you think. Just like refs will always lean towards the goalie in a a GI review, DoPS will always lean towards the hitter and there have to be no mitigating factors whatsoever to suspend. There weren't for Reaves (or Jeannot on Boeser) and there are (no matter how significant) for Whitecloud.

Why would the PA advocate for taking money out of it's members' pockets????

Ya, but then you have tough veteran voices leading the way, and I feel like Marchand kinda summed up their attitude when Bennett punched him in the face- “it’s fine.” No it’s not, dude, he concussed you with a cheap shot, don’t keep that culture going.

Amazed people don’t see this as a dirty hit.

He clearly jumps into the head, gimme a break. Even if he hadn't, by your definition, the Reaves hit last week was legal.

No, that shows nothing , but after contact, you chose the wrong frame.

Post 86 is the correct frame to look at, vs this one. That one looks like through the body and head also gets hit. Even one frame earlier than post 86 would be nice.
Looking at that still, looks like a good hit.

Need the camera angle from the Vegas goalie end of ice, and a video, other than Omar’s to get a better view.

Edit: after seeing post 112 this is a clean hit, I can see why the penalty was rescinded.

It's the EXACT SAME HIT as Ryan Reaves
No, 2 differences
Reaves comes from the side, Whitecloud was face to face.
Reaves hits head first, looks like Whitecloud goes through body and head gets hit as result of going through body. (Which is legal in Rulebook). Post 164 shows this.
