How is it that reaves does the same hit unintentionally and gets 5 minute major kicked from the game and 5 game suspension yet Vegas get nothing and instead put on a power play meanwhile the hit was worse and intentional and skates came off the ice bs

MOD EDIT :

Definitely looks like the head is the main point of contact. It's not the worst hit I've seen lately, but it's not exactly clean either. I'm mostly just baffled by how the Leafs were somehow the ones to end up on the penalty kill as a result of this ... View attachment 933406

Reaves hit was certainly more vicious and telegraphed. He deserved what he got.

However, the Whitecloud hit was a hit to the head. If nothing else, that’s what it is. Seems also pretty clear he launches his body upwards into Knies head. Makes it worse.

But not even two minutes? AND the Leafs end up on the PK as a result? Hard to buy that.

The NHL should want to eliminate these hits. I think any fan watching one of their team get hit in this exact way would likely agree with that. I don’t file this under “keep your head up, kid”

Toronto fans not so concerned when Pacioretty left the ice to injure Peeke. This hit looked fine. Perhaps missed two minutes and 4v4 after the roughing. Not very comparable to the Reaves hit. Not a suspension.
It's obviously not a suspension. George doesn't roll that way.

Ah man I dunno. He did jump upwards and catch nothing but head. Reaves didn’t mean to target the head either and got 5 minutes and 5 games.

Whitecloud is exploding upwards when he hits Knies in the chin. He doesn’t jump, but he’s early in exploding through the hit and that contributes to this being a head shot.

The obvious difference between this and the Reaves hit is that Reaves hits Nurse’s head as the principal point of contact and gets very little body. Whitecloud catches Knies completely square. Contact can start with the head if the player is hitting the body, which is the case here. This is a clean hit.

If the DoPS is going to look at this, it will be for the early upwards motion leading to the head contact. The DoPS are clowns and they are absolutely biased against us, that’s not just a meme, but a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

Leafs should’ve came out in support of the Rangers a couple years back when they released that statement about Paros. Only chance for meaningful change was to get behind that.
