Remember White Sox fans, with Reinsdorf, it could always get worse:

He could hire Aj Pierzynski or bring back Ozzie to replace him.

Edit: actually maybe Ozzie wouldn't be too bad. He would at least give a shit which is more than approximately 99% of the White Sox organization can say right now.

White Sox throwing red meat to the fans who have stuck this out, and maybe get a bump to avoid being the worst team in baseball history.

Understandable. But will it make a difference?
Grifol was really bad at his job. Lots of murmurs around the clubhouse that was a prick too. Had the attitude of "it's not my fault this team sucks, it's on the players. Yet for some reason everyone who left Chicago at the deadline mysteriously started to play better in their new homes.

Per reddit he will finish his managerial career with the third worst winning percentage in baseball history (min 250 games)

Replacing him wouldn't mean they suddenly become division champions or something, but his decisions/game management made an already bad team historically bad.

Now the question becomes can a new manager "spark" them (and I use that term very liberally here) to avoid infamy?

I was open to Ozzie returning actually but they hired Girfol instead

And yes, Ozzie would never have been this bad

The bottom three are:
  • Grifol (.319, 279 games)
  • John McCloskey (.313, 615 games), managed Louisville 1895-1896, Cardinals 1906-1908. A long-time minor league manager, generally successful - he was just never given good opportunities in the major leagues.
  • Doc Protho (.301, 460 games), managed Phillies 1939-1941. He never had a chance to succeed, but was also a successful minor league manager.

There's something hilarious about this.

Apparently, Sizemore was working in the Diamondbacks front office as an intern to the point he was only making 15 bucks an hour. Which normally for a guy of his worth is fine, he's just that hungry to get his foot in his door. The fact that the White Sox hired him to be manager...

Look, i'm not saying Reinsdorf is paying the manager of his major league team 15 dollars an hour...but would you really be shocked if he was?
