It'll be McCann. Sullivan is dumb. He's not that dumb.

Frankly the thing that concerns me more is how Malkin's skating will look. If it isn't there, that's some really tough sledding for the Pens. If it is, then the Pens chances are as good as anyone's to emerge from the division (doesn't mean they won't be one and done, just because the matchups are all so close, but I wouldn't have the same vibe as say two years ago going into the playoffs).

Just hope Carter continues to build up steam. If he can be a defacto 2C for us ALA Bonino in the Rangers series circa 15-16. We good to go.

Luckily our division this year isn't a murder's row of center depth like the conference has been in the past.

Matheson only has one less goal than Hornqvist at even strength :sarcasm:

Honestly though that trade hasn’t turned out nearly as bad as it could have. And maybe part of that could be due to Ceci being solid as hell? Wild.

I seriously don’t get how anyone doesn’t see McCann > Zucker for their Pens career. Strokes and folks, opinions and assholes. But I just don’t.

I get what your saying but it wasnt too long ago that people were calling for McCanns head and saying we shouldnt resign him etc. Revisiting those threads is comical

Just a great example of much of the fanbase not being patient with a young player. Too many jump the gun too quick

Kid is still young

People are real bad about evaluating players. Like Ceci. Lord knows we all thought that was a bad signing.

Thing is, McCann's his wing man out there. Zucker is kind of a passenger. Whether it's the ankle or how he's processing the game or whatever, he's not exactly a driving force.

That said, McCann-Malkin-Kapanen . . . you need Malkin rolling if you hope to go far, and McCann is the guy most likely along with Kapanen suited to do that. There's really not even a close #2 option.

For as much as I like to mock the guy, there's no way Sullivan can look at this team and think Zucker with Malkin and Kapanen is the ticket because of how McCann and Carter work together . . . it's NOT a 2016 HBK situation . . . if they're going far, they need a 2017 Sid and Geno go nuts situation.

Question is, the bottom 6 . . . I think they 'like' EROD placeholding for Tanev. So, who's the winger with Zucker and Carter? Or, do the put Freddy with TB and ZAR and then slide EROD up?

Well, McCann does have his limitations. I don't actually think he'll score 62 points in an 82 game season.

But if we continue to play him on the PP I can see him scoring mid 40's, maybe even low 50's? You combine that with a decent defensive game and that's pretty valuable. He'll always probably be a straight line player though. As long as he's used right he can be a good secondary player.
