Anyone listen to Adam Gold Canes Corner podcast? Fast forward to 26:55 (Morning after McDavid). He's seen the stadium series jersey, or he's bs'ing. He gives the details. I'm pretty sure the picture floating around speculating the Stadium jersey is spot on.

Thats true but their logo was pretty cool being the outline of the state and the stylized B in the middle

Their jerseys were lowkey some of the best ever when you take them by the standards of the era.

The “C” crest would probably be different today, but probably not the actual logo, and that design is a classic. Especially with the way they did the numbers on the sleeves which was *chefs kiss*

Feels like more of a college jersey to me. And some elements feel basebally to me even. Don't dislike it though.

Wouldn't anything too "Raleigh" oriented (wordmark or City of Oaks) be viewed as somewhat of a slap in the face to the other local areas that heavily support the Canes? I could see getting away with something Capitol oriented since that relates to the State in addition to Raleigh.

You know how once you see something you can't un-see it? For some reason the dome on the logo below struck me as a hard hat with a small tiara on top of it. Now I can't get away from that image, lol. Because of that I wouldn't want this as the primary logo (maybe a shoulder patch?)

I will definitely buy the first Icecaps callback jersey of any kind. I don't buy jerseys anymore, but I would buy that one. I still wear my old Icecaps jersey from from 25 years ago.

Ok having seen the RRs in action over the weekend, I have a few thoughts.

First, if we do bring back the red home jerseys from last year, put the flag logo on the shoulders. Secondly, I kind of like the black stripe with white outline on the red jersey, and thought it looked pretty good with the black pants.

Yes the black warning flag stripe with red above and below made those jerseys infinitely better with the black pants than the other reds IMO.

I just can't get into the black storm flags. Like I'm not a semaphore purist or whatever but it just doesn't really make any sense and you can barely see it in action anyway. I think the actual red and black flags would look miles better, or even just a plain black stripe. I didn't hate the look but it didn't look like the canes to me. Actually since seeing them back in those throwbacks they haven't really felt "right" like those did

I think the actual RR jersey itself looks great and is something I would wear on the street.

But the entire kit flat-out looks identical to the Devils. People used to say the Redvolution kit looked like the Red Wings or Team Canada or whatever, but that was more like a vague resemblance. The RRs actually look like it's a Devils game. I can't get on board with straight up copy-pasting another team's identity like that.

Different stripe thicknesses on the arms, the Devils no longer have a waist stripe, and the RR didn't have black shoulders.

If anything, I like our striping pattern more than the Devils, and kind of makes NJ look like a generic Walmart ripoff of ours.

If anything, its a copy of Team Canada from the 2004 World Cup

That’s all true if we’re looking at still photos and picking apart the details, but in live action the only visual cue that it’s not the Devils is the black shoulders, which don’t exactly scream for attention. If you were flipping through channels you’d go right past them not realizing you’d seen the Canes.

This just isn’t their brand identity. It’s a cool uniform in its own right, but this territory is already occupied by a rival franchise.

And this is why I say the black jerseys need to be our full time look.

Outside of Ottawa totally copying us last year (I know, 90s, I know), there isn't another team out there that has a black jersey with red trim as their primary look. You want to look for a unique brand? Right there, that's it.

Given the sheer volume of teams that have red as a primary color in this league with black or dark blue as their trim color, its practically impossible to unveil something that doesn't look like its a rip of someone else, or get accused of being too busy or too modern.

Give me waist flags and italic numbers all day long. Add them to the current black kit they would be baller and would be unquestionably canes
I would be ok with the previous number font, just a little bit narrower on the size. But yeah.

As for the waist flags, I think we should always have one jersey that has it, but I think our current black is so good that it doesn't need it. And if our crest logo is of the flags, then the flag stripe is a bit redundant.

I think the blacks are amazing alternates. I don’t love them as primary jerseys, not as an aesthetic judgment but because red is the primary color of the franchise.

To me the Canes have never had an issue with looking too similar to another team. People played that issue up during the Redvolution years, but I thought they looked distinct enough from the Wings because of the obvious differences in the striping pattern. Really the only commonality was the red/white color scheme, as opposed to all the teams that incorporate black.

That’s true, and I think people get way too hung up on all of that stuff. The only way a jersey can truly be unique at this point is to be Wild Wing levels of stupid about it. To me the traditional hockey template is fine, just adjust your colors and striping to distinguish yourself. Even the original Canes jerseys were a little too busy for my tastes (mainly the over-busy striping pattern and NASCAR numbers) but they worked out fine and were indeed unique and distinctive. I get the economics behind having 8 different jerseys but I don’t think it adds anything to the brand.

And here's the kicker. We go back to the red jersey that was our home look last year, which many people have said is the best look we've had in recent years, there will be people who complain that its too similar to San Jose, which... totally valid

True about SJ but it was the sharks that copied the canes' homework on that one, not the other way around. And if the waist flags were full black on red instead of the half-ass red on red, it'd be much less likely anyone would look too similar to the canes
