He doesn't make sense for half the teams in the NHL in terms of their timelines. There are only a few teams outside of the leafs where they can afford his AAV and would fit their timeline.
ANA - nope, too many other holes
BOS - Have Pasternak
BUF - Could work space wise but I don't think he wants to go to Buffalo
CGY - Could afford him easily, but Kadri is 34, Backlund is 35,
CAR- Already have Svechnikov and no space plus Orlov and Burns are pending UFAs which would require that money to get D replacements
CHI- Too many holes, doesn't fit the timeline
COL- Rantanen is already a pending UFA
CBJ- Plenty of cap space, but does he want to go to CBJ?
DAL- Possible
DET- Possible
EDM - Theorhetically possible but the Oilers have some holes that they need to fill
FLA- No cap room
LAK- Possible
MIN- Not enough Cap space
MTL- Possible
NAS- Possible, but does he want to go to Nashville given their performance
NJD- Not enough cap space
NYI- Could work but does he want to go to Islanders, Plus Dobson is a RFA, which wiould likely mean not enough cap space.
NYR- Space , but NYR needs to sin some defensemen and the culture is a mess.
OTT- Would need to clear a bit, but does he want to go to OTT
PHI- Not enough space and not sure he'd want to go Philly.
PIT- Not enough Cap Space
SJS- Doesn't fit the timeline and the Sharks have too many holes. Not to mention I don't think he wants to go to SJS.
SEA- Space would be tight, but would he want to go there.
STL- Not enough cap space
TBL- Not enough cap sapce
UTA- Not sure he'd want to go to Utah
VAN- Would need to clear space
VGK- Not enough space and Mark Stone is already there
WAS- Could do it, but wonder if WAS needs a C more
WPG- Possible but space would need to be cleared and Pionk would need to either be signed or repalced.
