Speculation: Which teams are going to be sellers, and who/what it is on the market right now?

Should be sellers, sell Rasmus Andersson, Mikael Backlund, Andrei Kuzmenko, Blake Coleman, Tyson Barrie and Dan Vladar.

Get into the bottom 10 and get a high pick.

But what will happen, is that they won't make any changes, maybe a depth player, spin their wheels in the snow and give a good pick to Montreal.

What would be the ask for Andersson?

Even with their hot streak after the coaching change, I think Detroit will be sellers as they just are too far back to get into a playoff spot. Problem is they don’t really have anything they’d want to sell that anyone will want to buy. Compher? Copp? Petry? Holl? Who wants that crap? Kane if he wants to move but I suspect he’d rather stay and won’t be on the block. Wings just don’t really have high end pieces to move.

...what else can they do??...keep paddling upstream??... :dunno:

Going younger and with more picks or prospects is not the way.

That said, figure Greenway is probably a rental acquisition for some team this deadline. He was doing well in his usual 3rd line role, particularly with McLeod and Zucker early. If he can show he's back from the surgery he had (sounds like a sports hernia), that is one guy I would figure they shift.

I think it’ll take 3 years minimum to retain Granny; it gets tricky, but not impossible at 4. Our only players that will definitely be on the team in three years are Eklund, Zetterlund, Tofolli (as a soon to be UFA that year) and the three current rooks. Muk will likely also be on a bridge. Maybe Walman is extended for big money as well?

In 3 years, Granlund is almost certainly still one of our six best forwards, if we had four better (than alone 6), I’d be thrilled. Perhaps we sign a guy like Tuch, Ehlers, or Connor this season or next, and draft one of Hagens/Miss/McKenna, and all four youngins are better?

We’ll have the cap, as Dickinson, 2025 1st, 2026 1st (and surely one 1-2 other rookies) will all be on ELCs. Potential cap investments:

Celebrini $12M
Eklund, Walman, Granny, Smith $7M each
Tofolli, Askarov $6M each
4 Middle of the road guys $4M
4 rookies $1M each

$72M for 15 players, 8 guys for $3m average to get to $96M on the assumed $100M cap.

$14.5M off the cap the following year will be open with end of Tofolli, Granlund, and Hertl’s retention.
$7M for Walman?!

The smartest move for the Blues would be to put Buchnevich on the market. He has 29 points, 11g & 18a in 45 games. His salary is 5.8m this season and then 8m the next 6 years.

I thought it was a mistake to extend him. He currently has a 12 team NTC.

I highly doubt he’s made available but anything is possible. Armstrong recently told the dressing room if the inconsistency doesn’t change he would change the players.

Saad will probably be moved regardless.
