Speculation: - Which teams are going to be sellers, and who/what it is on the market right now? | HFBoards - NHL Message Board and Forum for National Hockey League
  • Xenforo Cloud upgraded our forum to XenForo version 2.3.4. This update has created styling issues to our current templates, this is just a temporary look. We will continue to work on clearing up these issues for the next few days and restore the site to it's more familiar look, but please report any other issues you may experience so we can look into. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Speculation: Which teams are going to be sellers, and who/what it is on the market right now?

Blackhawks are going to be sellers:
  • Taylor Hall
  • Connor Murphy
  • Ryan Donato
  • Alec Martinez
  • Pat Maroon
  • Craig Smith
  • Seth Jones- if he waives NTC and they eat part of his contract

The preds need to be to go full rebuild but we have an incompetent front office so we'll probably be buyers because there is a 2.9 chance we can still make the playoffs

The bottom of the East is a mess, where even Buffalo is just a short win streak away from being back in the thick of the race.

The West is a little more clear, where the bottom 3 are more or less done, and ANA and SEA teetering on the cliff's edge.

List the best centers and D you think your team will sell? Centers and D are usually the prime targets. This will give us a good indication of the supply/demand which is huge at TDL's

Habs have Evans and Savard. Not worth talking about Dvorak. I think there is a shortage of RD's and C's and Evans will be targeted by several teams. A very good 3C to add for a contender looking for an added edge no doubt.

Habs probably are sellers but hard to say how they do in the next 1.5 months. I think they stay in the mix but management still knows the probability is low to make the playoffs and sell on some pending UFA's. Armia is another

The Flyers should be selling at least Laughton and Ristolainen (if I had my druthers they'd be making far more drastic changes), but this team has a way of defying expectations in the dumbest way possible, so there's a non-zero chance they go all-in trying to make the second wild card instead.

Yeah the East is interesting. As a Columbus fan, I wonder what they're going to do. Haven't made the playoffs in a couple of years. You want to build a winning culture and give the young guys playoffs experience but at the same you have some trade assets. A few pieces that will probably get you mid to late round picks but then you have Olivier (currently trying to extend) and Provorov. I wonder if they buy(maybe non rentals), sell(get assets and feel good about the young guys in the minors to step in) , or just stay neutral (tell the team you have confidence in them. But losing at a chance at good assets).

They'll be buyers, but moving Moore for an upgrade wouldn't be surprising. Could also see a physical D brought in for the 3rd pair.
Eddy is the physical 3rd pairing Dman.. they could bring in a bigger Dman to supplant Spence but that would mean they trade him. I would rather see them target Bjugstad

The only real sellers at this point are the Sharks, Predators and Blackhawks. There will be more (especially in the East), but until more teams fall out of it, it will take a stupid overpay or a more "hockey trade" to make a deal.
