Chicago is taking Levshunov. Demidov falls to Montreal.

Confident Anaheim is taking Silayev. Team is absolutely loaded with young players and prospects in every position. They don't have a freak physical shut down d man.

Think Columbus goes Lindstrom. Montreal gets Demidov if they want him... could see them go Iginla. Maybe Utah.

Montreal or Chicago. I don't see Anaheim or Columbus doing it, and don't see him dropping past #5. Longshot would be Utah.

I see it unfolding out like this :

SJS Celebrini
CHI Lev
ANA Silayev
CBJ Iginla
MTL Sennecke
UTH Demidov
OTT Yakemchuk
SEA Dickinson
CGY Lindstrom
NJD Buium/Parekh/MBN/Solberg
SJS Eiserman/Parekh/MBN/Solberg
PHI Catton

Demidov is closer to Celebrini then to the rest of the draftees. If Chicago doesn't take him then they are idiots. and if he drops farther then the next team are idiots.

If Demidov was a Center and was a North American player with the last name Donnelly this draft would be know as a two player race for 1st OV.

Why would he drop to 6 which is lower than any rating he’s in ?

And considering :

- he’s taller and heavier than initially listed
- he’s got decent English already
- he’s expressed desire to play in the NHL soon

It’s not because he’s Russian. It’s because he’s playing in a Russian Junior league with a hazy level of competition and it’s hard to extrapolate that out against how he’ll do against men.

Only an idiot would think it’s because he’s Russian. Levshunov is Belorussian which is a distinction without much of a difference. I think it’s just hard to truly know his talent level and how it translates to playing against the best hockey players in the world.

…at least that’s what I’ve gathered from following discussions about him and Lev the last few months.

Judging by the betting markets, Montreal will get him.

They have Chicago and Anaheim preferring D, Columbus taking Lindstrom over Demidov, and Montreal taking Demidov over Lindstrom.

I really don't get why. If I had to guess I'd still say there's a smokescreen here and Chicago takes him at #2. He's so much better than Levshunov.

What’s the history on the betting markets being accurate in these matters ?

Chicago is going Lev but I see no reason for Anaheim or Colombus to not take the BPA, although I do wish he falls to us(MTL)

He is going second and if people are being honest with themselves they know it as well.
