Panthers lost two away games, that's whatever.

Vegas lost two home games, that's bad.

I don't think it makes much difference whether the losses were at home or on the road. Toronto had one of the best road records in the league this season. I don't think playing in Florida will change much in this series.

In a 7 game series, the team that is up 2-0 has gone on to win the series 86.3% of the time. When game 3 is at home, the odds of winning the series were 80.4% vs 88.4% if game 3 is on the road.
So what, exactly, are you arguing? That away is favorable in comparison to home?

Here, I can explain these stats to you: The team whose home games the first two matches were was the favorite due to being the higher seed. It will include all sorts of matchups of top teams vs bottom feeders getting 0-4'd. Meanwhile, winning the first two away games would mean that the team winning is the one who's the lower seed. Considering that, a 80% winrate for the likely underdog is pretty high.

Another thing backing that interpretation is that, by your probabilities, 75% of 2-0s have been two home game wins, and 25% of 2-0s have been two away game wins. So it in itself has a far lower probability(these were derived from your percentages).

? Panthers literally have a losing record away, while they're 27-14 at home. Why are you only looking at the Leafs? That makes 0 sense.

Lot of people pointing out that Florida is going home. It’s a factor I guess, but not a huge one imo. Toronto had the best road record in the entire regular season (tied with Washington) - they are extremely comfortable on the road.

It's weird this year. The Leafs are great in these playoffs, and Florida looks tired. The Oilers seem much deeper despite McDrai being terrible in Game 2 against Vegas, except the got the game winning goal!

Overall I would be shocked to see a reverse sweep by Florida or Vegas...coin toss if it happens....

The Panthers. I'm over my shock that Toronto is now up 2-0, and I do think that winning the series is a real possibility at this point. But I think winning one of these next 2 games in mandatory for them. If Florida can win both of their next games at home, I would give them a 75% chance of taking the series. Even if this year's Leafs team doesn't have the same choke vibes as past iterations, I'm not entirely sold on their turtling and opportunity-type offense.

I don't think the Vegas is over by any means, however, Vegas couldn't take advantage of the worst game the Oilers have played in the playoffs. That doesn't bode well for them at all. Edmonton had nothing going and Hill was getting beat clean. Theres nothing to be hopeful here for the Knights. I dont think the knight will see an Oiler team this bad again in the series, and i do wonder if that was Vegas's best.

Because Florida's home record is irrelevant when the Leafs are just as good or better away than they are at home. Having last change won't make any difference for Florida. They will still make the same defensive mistakes.

Toronto needs to prove they’re developing a killer instinct by sending the champions into a 3-0 hole. I still trust Florida until that occurs.

Vegas will likely dwell on the way the end of Game 2 played out from their perspective, let it affect their game, and be finished off in 4 or 5 games.

12 Leafs fans....and everyone else :P

Can't agree with this take. What team in the NHL coming into this series do you think is capable of beating the Panthers in 3 straight games? My guess is most fans would say that isn't happening. So a bit unfair to just say they HAVE to win game 3.

The reality is, they need to win 2 of the next 5. I don't care what order those wins come

How has it not been brought up that the Panthers are more than capable of injuring the Leafs enough to win? They are the Kings of winning the attrition battle over 7 games. There’s a lot of hockey left to be played and I expect the Leafs to limp out of this series if they don’t wrap it up quickly.

Leafs in 5 or Panthers in 7.

I agree that I didn’t have Toronto up 2-0, but this is what unfolded in reality. It would go a long way to signaling they’re true contenders to put their skates in Florida’s throats in Game 3, which I’ll be really surprised if they manage.

I hope Toronto doesn’t share your mindset because that’s exactly how they will end up losing the series.

THIS! One of the worst games McDrai have played, could not score on a 5 minute power play yet they put it away at even strength. Vegas looked better than in Game 1 but still lost. Shows you how Edmonton are with competent goaltending. We will see on Saturday....

I expect them to be ready to play and win tonight.. But also Berube said they had to mentally prepare going into the series for it to be a long series. I think they aren't going to be rattled if they lose both these games is what I mean.

So to me, what shows me they are a real contender is either them doing what you are suggestion, or having the Panthers come back with everything they have and still being able to put them down. Leafs of the past could never dream of either of those things

I bet on Toronto to win the last two games and I think they will win the series. People are counting them out because of their history, which is completely understandable but I think they are a better team this year with Knies and the defense.

The oilers are a deeply flawed team. I think they are far more likely to blow the series unless Pickard keeps it up somehow.
