Dallas can pull it off if they get it together. Carolina... uh... I don't see it happening at all, but I won't rule it out entirely.

To answer the question exactly how it's phrased, this means I voted Dallas in the poll. Since I like to slap arbitrary numbers on things, I'd say 10% chance for Dallas and 1% chance for Carolina. 10% is greater than 1%, and both are greater than 0%.

Dallas is a lot better team than Carolina, I’ll say that. Carolina looked better in their last game though and are coming off of a win.

That being said, probably neither. Each is up against a championship level team up 2 games

I have already spoken it's Carolina, followed by a 4 game sweep of the SCF.

I said Canes because of a tactic switchup.

Dallas has been trying to play the same style of game as Florida. They rely on a heavy aggressive forecheck and hem the play in the zone while wearing out defenders.

The Oilers walked into this series knowing exactly how Dallas plays, so they ensured their Dmen aren't lined up to take these kinds of hits with rapid outlet and stretch passes to cherry pickers in the neutral zone.

It's a higher risk system that exhausts the Dallas forwards so there's no gas in the tank by the third period (if analytics track 'distance skated, im sure the Stars forwards would all be near the top).

I noticed Carolina are now playing this type of strategy in their last win. Instead of precision outlets down the middle, they're lobbing hail-mary's to center ice where there's more puck support and numbers.

The Stars and Panthers are trying to make this an East-West series forcing the play to one side of the ice, whereas the Canes are now forcing the Cats to play North-South.

I think the big difference between the Hurricanes and Oilers, is the next 'tactic switchup' would be to deploy the same neutral zone trap the Kings failed to do, or turn this into a north-south trackmeet where the other team is trading chances with McDavid and Draisaitl. I think the Cats could beat the Canes if they decided to trade chances.

I don't think either, and I think the Canes lose tonight.

However, injuries and fatigue are catching up to Florida. Playing every other day for about 3 weeks straight will catch up to you, especially when you have key players out with injury. If the Canes do win tonight, things could get very interesting

Dallas looks cooked. As much shit as everyone gave Carolina for the first 3 games of their series, Dallas has been just as bad in the last 3. Outscored 13-2 with no answers? Its only a wonder that people aren't having the same big picture "they don't belong", "they are an embarrassment to the game", "They should forfeit Game 5 just out of respect for the game", "we need to completely scrap the playoff format so they get exposed earlier", treatment that Carolina received over the weekend.

Might as well since we always seem to have polls like this...
Technically this deserves an answer.

I have a better chance of kissing Jennifer Aniston than my 400 lb chain smoking neighbor.

That said, I don't think either of us is actually going to do the deed.

Think Carolina and Dallas are going to go dateless as well.

both teams have a chance.
FLA almost crapped the bed against the Oilers after being up 3-0 last year.
DAL just needs to solve Skinner.. they have outplayed the Oilers otherwise.

Not sure how Dallas has outplayed Edmonton.

The series is probably close in some aspects. But Dallas generally plays good for 1 period a game.

Edmonton just has better star power and depth. Skinner has outdueled Oettinger 2 years in a row.

Dallas just can’t get a lead in the games. I just don’t think they really have the belief. I suspect that even if they could get a lead, Edmonton would push hard. I think their group just has more belief.

Neither really has much of a chance in my view but if I had to pick one being more likely I'd say Canes just because of the momentum being on their side. Coming off a road win to keep their season alive and get the monkey off their back could spur a bit of a comeback run. If they can win at home tonight, Florida may start feeling the pressure. But more likely Florida does just close it out either tonight or in 6.

Dallas has lost 3 straight and Edmonton seems to be rolling and I'd put my money on them easily closing it out in 5 tomorrow night. Even if Dallas wins at home, I can't see them beating the Oilers on the road in a potential game 6.

Dallas has looked better recently but wouldn't say they've outplayed the Oilers. Last game was by far their best but they were outplayed in games 1-3.

No excuses with the roster they have that they should be down 3-1 to the Oilers. Skinner is playing well but it's not like McDavid and Draisaitl are going super saiyan. Comes down to coaching and their big guys being no-shows. Robertson has been more noticeable in the last two games but none of their forwards outside of the finns are generating anything 5v5.

Dallas has made some big comebacks but being down against a dialed in Edmonton team that's coming off a win will be tough. I give them virtually no chance.

Carolina at least has some life after winning on the road, so I could see them getting another one back home. Ultimately I think Florida will right the ship by game 6 if it gets there.

I give Carolina a better chance but it's very hard to imagine either team rattling off 3 straight wins against those opponents.

I love this youtube channel.

Really good detailed analysis of how Carolina smothered Florida in game 4

I doubt the Canes come back to win this series (as Maurice likely makes small tweaks to his system) but this is a very solid blueprint on how the Canes can win game 5.
