Which skates are the best threads

I am considering the Mission Fuel 120 AG Sr. Hockey Skates, anyone have any feedback on these? Thanks.

are they pitched forward? if they are some people dont like that(me) i have grafs and the cobra holder are like that. im switching them with the tuuk lightspeed2

This is just going by my experience with three pairs of Missions with the Pitch.

All three, the blade would "click" in the holder (with every stride)

With two pairs i couldnt get the screw into the slot when Pitching forward or back. (1 pair it could not be pitched forward, other pair could not be pitched back.)

For me personally i just get a Tuuk thrown on when i by Missions now and save the hassel.

Once again i may just have bad luck with them, but i have convinced a few people to buy Missions and just swap the runner when they would refuse because of the Pitch.

Big thing with the pitch 3s is that you can set them to the pitch you want.

The Stealth S11's, ****ing carbon fiber fell apart which in result caused pre mature ankle slop which I think caused the rivets to blow out.

So I need some new skates quick under 200? I can really only afford around the One55's or v6's, anything out there better, and has anyone tried any of the 09 models yet?

so Ive been looking at the RBK 5k pumps from 2008, I see good reviews on the website which leads me to think they'd be pretty good. Ive tried em on, and they feel nice.
basically my question on them is how well would they hold up to a 220 lber? Im not sure if I skate hard or not. (actually im not really sure what the definition of hard skating is. (If it means do I push off hard, then yes I do, but I dont skateskateskate-stop-skateskateskate-stop. I tend to get a few strides and kind of glide.))

any input is appreciated

ive heard they arent too bad for a mid line skate. they are made of nylon but ive heard they hold up well

Common issue with just about every holder on the market. I've had Tuuk's click as well as E-Pro's and Cobra's.

Be careful with those. I don't remember if they started putting the composite outsole on those in the 2009 version or the 2008 version, but before they added that there were problems with the outsole bending for heavier guys.

well the RBK's are my backup plan if i cant find any 110xp's. Id really like the Missions if I could find them.

Anybody know where I can find a pair? Ive checked online, but cant seem to find my size.

edit: I COULD find them for like 450$ but Id rather not spend that much.

What does D and EE mean?

D is a regular width and E widths are wider than normal D widths.

I wear a D width.

You must know that different manufacturers are all different, CCM Reebok for example have a wider D width than other companies. You must also know that some companies have a different sizing method from each other.

Mission skates for example are size 13 if you wear a size 13 shoe but Bauer Nike are 11.5 skate size if you wear a 13 shoe. I'm going by USA sizes by the way ...

I actually own a couple of pair of Bauer skates. I wear a 13 shoe and have an 11.5 Bauer Vapor skate and I also have a pair of Vapor skates at size 12 for use on outdoor ice because I wear a double thick sock because I got frostbite in one of my big toes once playing when it was 6 degree Fahrenheit outside. It took a good month to heal properly and was a huge pain in the butt.... errrrr I mean foot.

I am 6 foot 4 inches tall and weigh 235 pounds and was looking into the RBK skate line. A long time friend and trusted pro shop owner here who does the skate work for the QMJHL MAINEiacs team specificallty told me not to buy the RBK5 skate and that he tells people to spend the extra $$$ for an RBK7 or higher model if they are heavy big guys. The more expensive skate has better strength and support on the heel outsole and won't have a seperation problem. In fact a defensman on the team I play for is bigger than I am and weighs 280 (no kidding lolz) and he had to have his RBK5 skate repaired for a heel problem, not sure what they did but I remember him talking about it in the lockeroom.

But this being said your weight at 220 will be a skate issue no matter what you use for other reasons other than skate breakage. I have a custom radius blade I use to better help a big guy out with my skating.

In my lifetime I have gone through a few pair of skates and it seems half of them were because the heel unglued and seperated. Two pair of CCM Tacks come to mind in the 1980s and a pair of Bauer Supreme 3000s through the 90s.

Face it .... you are big and will have issues no matter what honestly at some point.

As far as blade holders go I have only used TUUK blade holders and they do work very well for big heavy guys. I've broken only one blade holder but that was from a slapshot hitting it.

I actually had to do a repair for a game and used fiberglas cloth with an epoxy resin you mix yourself. it worked and I used them for that game so I could use my favorite skate for the game until I could get them replaced.

Any over 210-220 lbs, except beginners, should be buying either the top of the line skate or second top of the line skate. Otherwise, it'll probably break down in short order...

Exactly. ... and even then you will still have the once in a while issue of something going kaflooey on your skate. Pros also have skate issues and they wear the best.

It is just the way it is I reckon.

My only concern is with the Pitch holder and the clicking noise people seem to have with it. I could probably deal with it, and I have a Koho Excalibur set Ive been using that would probably fit on it if it were really that annoying, but Id rather not go through that. Well see what happens when I get them (had to order them from my local store that has another store somewhere- shipping them in). woo!

Don't replace the Pitch holders with a Koho holder. The Pitch holders are sooo much better.

yea definitely keep the pitch holders, especially over koho holders. imo, if you are going to replace them, do it with the tuuks LS2s.

Its not the noise that is the problem. In my experience with them it is the feel of the blade shifting in the holder because the screws dont either hold the blade firmly or are not lined up properly.

I perfer Tuuk's myself
