Which real good players will be traded this year?

Word is Reece Hamilton has requested a trade out of Calgary. Would command a lot, but that's a big name nobody expected to be moved.
 
Calgary has been snapping up a few of the "newly eligible" players this year. Seems like they have insulated themselves to get a bit of a prospect/pick deal here if they choose as Reece would effectively be a 5-6 at this point for them.

  • Moose Jaw will trade Yager to PG for a bunch of picks and prospects. He will get to play with Heidt again. Book that one.
  • Ratzlaff traded before he returns from the WJC. Will end up in Lethbridge for Oaten to shore up Seattle's future in net.
  • Howe will be traded by the Pats. My call is that they trade him to Kamloops, who has a bunch of picks available, but it might be Victoria.
Some of the rest of it will depend a lot on who gets the 2026 Mem Cup. Teams that don't get it will be all in this season (except for Brandon because they are all in on the coaches kid).

Man if PG gets Yager I wonder which prospects and which picks along with how loaded up PG would be at least up front.

Reece Hamilton for Tanner Howe. Straight up. If he is sitting down on the depth chart in Calgary, he can't be worth a king's ransom.

Who is the next goalie to move? Best goalies on bad teams?
Jackson Unger
Daniel Hauser (tough to move as a 20 year old)
Kelton Pyne

Well it's not straight up, but it sure sounds like Reece Hamilton is a Regina Pat and Tanner Howe is a Calgary Hitmen...

Victoria perhaps.
I really don't see PG going for Yager. It's Molendyk that makes the most sense there, then add a good middle six forward like Oiring, Birnie to complement that core and style.
 
I would also say RD could have some sneaky good guys that could become available. They seem like the 4th or 5th best team in Alberta right now. I'd watch out for them in late December.

They could move out a few pieces, especially on their back end, get some of that draft back and still be a playoff team.

A swing with what? They have no assets. That's not how you run a successful organization. Look what Wenatchee did? Brandon a few years ago. They were 1s place.
 
WheatKings trade Bjarnson to a contender to add to what will be a very good team next year with a healthy McQueen. Food for thought???

What is Calgary waiting on in the goaltending department? An 18 year old from the AJHL can't be the play they were planning for when they released Bueneventura. Are they waiting for Ratzlaff? Bjarnason? You don't trade for Howe and then ride a 16 year old.

As I press Post Reply, Kelowna is announced.

McKenna to NCAA should be the next announcement. Then some trades will drop.
