Most teams that didn't make the playoffs this season will be fine to get him, and at least one of them would be willing to do $13m.

Rarely does a 90pt player under 30 hit free agency and this is an opportunity for someone to grab one.

I’m thinking more than one GM will go 15 x 7 to land Marner. Imagine Marner with Bedard. Bedard would score at a significantly higher rate.

Sure, but if your goal is to win a Cup you are handicapping your team with that contract.
Marner helps A LOT in the regular season. But he doesn’t in the post season.

Some clubs want/ need to make the playoffs. Marner will absolutely help clubs achieving that goal. Imagine Marner in Detroit or Buffalo. Two clubs that need to make the playoffs. They’re both almost certainly in if they have Marner.

Bennett has a career high of 51 points. He might be a good playoff performer, but he’s worth like half that contract. This isn’t even close
