Which one of the kids is likely to be moved first?

Do we really need to move one of our core players with all the draft picks we can deal? We can even move our 2016 first rounder too. Hell, maybe even wait til next season's big UFA market and see if we can sign a quality dman without losing someone.

I'd die a little inside if we traded Ebs or Yak.

RNH and Eberle have us much chemistry as the Sedins so I wouldn't trade either of them
Yak has a sweet contract and we still have no idea what his ceiling is so I would keep him
Personally I would either trade Hall (most value/not really any chemistry with anyone) or use Draisaitl and the Pittsburgh pick

Schultz or RNH.

RNH might surprise people but my logic is that centre is the only position we have depth at (>2 top 6 players) and for this team to succeed it needs to free up cap space not trade away RFAs on value contracts which is why it would be RNH before Draisatl; we need his ELC because this team will be in cap trouble very soon.

PC will want guys that instigates and agitates, and BIG guys to back them up.

Nobody on this team comes close to doing that.

It would be amazing if we could turn Yak into a Tikka-Pest Marchand/Claude Lemieux type who can score and make everyone hate him.

Great idea. Go into next year with McDavid and Draisaitl as our top 2 centers. Why have Nuge who can actually face first line competition when we can throw two rookies into the mix?

There's no reason to move any of them this offseason unless the piece you are bringing in is so significant, so unexpectedly huge that it can not be acquired without moving one of them. That list might be Shea Weber and Drew Doughty. Literally no other player in the league.

You don't have a financial reason to do it, for starters. McDavid will be on an ELC for the next 3 seasons, Yakupov is on a bridge deal that pays him the literal league average for the next two. ~27 million for your top-six forwards is not bad by any stretch (for comparison's sake, Chicago is about to pay Kane and Toews 27.2 million combined starting next year).

What about for trade options? When is the last time you saw player for player trades happen in the NHL? It doesn't happen. It's assets, futures and cheap young roster talent in a package for a meaningful player. It's been that way for a decade because cap management is important.

The assets that the Oilers have, that they SHOULD look into using are Draisaitl, Pittsburgh's first, Marincin, Schultz - maybe even Nurse or the 2016 first for a big enough player. All of that long before you consider touching one of the four cornerstones you have on the NHL team.

I just hope to god we can see Ebs in the playoffs as an oiler once before trading him.
I wouldn't move any kids this year though, let them raise their value first. Everyone of significance on this squad will be better next year, let em raise their value.

I seriously doubt Peter Chiarelli would move any of the kids before they get evaluated. But the first player to go is prob Yak or Eberle. The oilers finally have fantastic depth with RNH, McDavid,Drai, and Lander down the middle it would be dumb for Peter Chiarelli to move any of those guys down the middle when they are pretty cheap and solid players.

Also I would be disappointed seeing Eberle go before he even plays a playoff game for this organization, this guy is clutch in big moments.

I think Schultz will be the first to go, and I think it will be this summer.

To keep schultz we have to match his last contract, so even a 1 year deal for him is about 3.7 mill I think. There is no way he is worth that.

You look at the forwards and there are strong arguments to keep all of them and see how they do.

Whereas with Schultz he is really hurting the team, he doesn't bring the offense like the organization had hoped and he is not "heavy" or "heavy on the stick" as PC said a few times in the presser.

Stick Klef on the powerplay and bring in another dman who can at least throw the puck around on the point (we all know it will be 4 forwards + 1 d for the PP), and start building the defense properly.

Years ago I used to argue that horcoff isn't a top 2C on a cup contender, the same applies for Jultz. He is not a top 4 dman on a cup contender. Either bring in enough D talent to bump him down to 3rd pairing and PP minutes, or trade him for some other value (e.g., Jultz + 16th overall)

Schultz and Draisaitl are the two most likely. Schultz is garbage and Draisaitl is a non-roster player with real trade value.

He said he's not afraid to do it, but it doesn't mean he'll do it with any of the young guys here.

Geez, people overreacting already.

Won't be hall IMO and if it is....won't be to Boston. Might only b picks and prospects, that would actually be smartest thing but if a young roster player goes for size at wing or d help it will b yak or eberle. I don't think chia is a fool and he would need to be to trade hall or RNH barring some bizarre dramatic overpayment .

While in the long term I don't think all of Hall, Eberle, Yak, RNH, Draisaitl and McDavid can fit under the cap, in the short term they can, so there's no pressing need to get rid any of them yet. I think Chia will wait unless a trade is available for a true #1 dman.

I think RNH is safe for now, we need a top 6 center who isn't a rookie, and McDavid is never going anywhere. Hall or Eberle are the obvious trade chips. Either would fetch a very large return, perhaps packaged up for a true #1 dman. Draisaitl is a type of player that is very rarely moved, but anything is possible if the right player is coming back.

It's not something you can even say.

It depends on the team, what they are willing to give up for whoever it is they are interested.

I would put strong money on Yak being moved and if not him then Eberle but either for a solid return. I don't believe Peter Chiarelli is a big fan of one way Russian players.

Just my opinion but I think McDavid, Hall, & RNH are safe. As are Nurse and Leon as far as prospects. Hall stylistically is not a Peter Chiarelli kind of player but I imagine he has learned from the past to avoid moving players like this unless the return is simply over the top.

If Peter Chiarelli can find a upgrade on the RD I would guess Schultz is as good as gone. There is nothing heavy about the way Schultz plays.

None. Chia will wait until he actually watches them play before any drastic moves.

He tried to get Eberle and Hall in Boston. Little chance he moves them.
RNH is the top c and plays a good 2 way game ala Bergeron.
Yak plays a tough style and has unrealized potential.
Drai is a big C and he said he wants the Oilers to play heavier
Nurse is developing very well and plays a position the team is desperate for.

Possibly Schultz. But even then, we are lacking NHL D, so moving one out can't be the top priority.
