Scottie Bowman for me. The others just won't be broken any time soon. Gretzky was having multiple 100 assist seasons, I don't see anyone coming close to that.

Broduer was starting 60-70 games a season, goalies nowadays just don't have the opportunity to amass that many wins because they don't play as many games.

Gretzky - no chance. 6 months ago, only 3 players in history (Lemieux/Orr/Gretzky) had ever topped 100 assists in a season.

To top 1963 - a player wouldn't just have to break 100 assists in a season, but do so 19 years in a row....and then still come back for a 20th season and add ~60 assists. It's video game statistics, and will never be broken. It's just impossible - sounds like video game stats.

The other 2 I feel are breakable with the right mix of longevity/consistency.

Brodeur 691 - you don't need to be a Hasek/Roy type goalie to break it. Just start early, great consistency/longevity, play for a good team. Consider Marc Andre Fleury, #2 all time with 564 wins. And Fleury has had a great career, but he isn't a top 5 goalie all time, nor even top 25. Just a decent goalie, with good longevity, playing on good teams. I know he's still ~100 wins away, but give him better health, less time missed, and do it with a slightly better goalie, and it's breakable.

Coach...this one is a bit harder because it takes longer, but it's also doable. It would take a coach starting young, and having a great career.

Paul Maurice has 880 wins. He's 57 years old. If he coaches for another 8 years an averages 45 wins, he'd top Bowman. I don't think he will - but it just shows it just takes great longevity, you don't have to be the best coach ever.

I voted goalie

Bowman’s is most likely but more likely than that is none of them.

Goalies don’t play enough to come close to Marty.

That assist record is ridiculous.

Coaching is the only one that seems probable.

Maurice is 57, is on a great team and could do it if he coaches to 70 with only half decent success so its actually in our sights right now.

Goalies will never have that kind of workload ever again and Gretz has more assists than anyone else total points.

This is exactly what I was going to say. Gretz' assist record isn't ever going to be broken, so that's not worth discussing. So it comes down to Bowman or Brodeur on this list.

You nailed it with Brodeur, because no one plays 70+ games as a goalie now.

We're getting coaches that start their career younger than they used to, and there's more coaching jobs that there used to be. Just seems like there's more opportunuty for that record to fall one day.

I'd argue decent goalies don't get to play that many games.

Only elite goalies play 70+ games a year.

Goalies just structurally don't play 70 games anymore. It doesn't matter how good you are. Cam Talbot played 73 in 2017 and that's it since 2015.

Coaches won't allow goalies to play 70 anymore. The best of the best top out at 66 67 these days.

I remember when this was made here years ago and I said Gretzky's goal scoring record.

Now I'm not sure what to say, but I feel like Gretzky's assist record should be fine...

Bowman's, rather easily. If Paul Maurice wants to coach until he's 70, and stays employed without a big gap in between teams, he probably breaks it. Even if he doesn't, his being a possibility shows that you don't have to be an exceptional coach to do it, just be around for a very long time.

You can't do that as a skater or goalie.
