Tough call between Indiana Jones and Han Solo. But I have to go with Star Wars. where he has to both embody and parody at the same time all the great swashbuckling heroes in movie history.

Indiana Jones. I still enjoy those movies. Blade Runner is a runner up for me.
I’m not sure there’s an actor who has played more iconic characters than Ford. He will likely never win an Oscar but Indiana Jones, Deckard, Hans Solo, Kimble, Jack Ryan is a great run for 5 actors, never mind one!
Add the movie Witness to the list as well.

I so want to say Han Solo, but Indiana Jones just barely edges him out. It might come down to nothing more than Jones being the sole star of his movies, rather than a secondary character.

Jones for sure. He has to carry that role and prove he could do more than just a Star Wars movie. His acting and presence in Raiders made it the greatest action/adventure movie of all time.

Not on the list but Ford as Jack Ryan is pretty good, Clear and Present Danger is a great movie.

Solo, he wasn't even into it. Didn't care much for the content and just wanted it as a springboard for something else. It showed in his acting.

Jones is great but his best work is as Jack Ryan and Richard K. They just seemed like more believable characters for him.

Ford is in the Hall of Very Good for actors. Not a ton of range and mostly plays variations on himself but that's okay. He's done that very well and has embodied some of the most memorable characters in movie history.

I had a hard time choosing between Indiana Jones and Deckard, but I went with Indy.

He was good as Deckard, in a much more reserved role, but he didn't make it "his" in the way that he did with Jones.

I was just thinking this morning about what Ford's most iconic role was...

I'd probably go with Indy since he carried that franchise, whereas Solo was more of a supporting character

Jack Ryan should be an option in the poll though...

Man, they butchered Indy with that mess that was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

It's a simple formula:

1. Witty banter.
2. Live stunts.
3. No or limited CGI.

That's it.

And they washed the film with so much CGI that it burned away my eyeballs. I actually felt sorry for the actors.

You see something like Fury Road and everyone goes ballistic because of the live action but this was how all movies used to be made, including Indiana Jones.
