he coached once in one of those international contests. Spengler Cup was it?

No. He coached in the Deutschland Cup as well as the Spengler Cup. Canada won Bronze in the Deutschland which was the only metal they won in a SEVEN year span. In the Spengler they won runner-up.Which ever contest it was, Canada epic failed in it.
I listed Torts I have no idea how it disappeared lmao I ranked him #2 on my listGallant followed by Torts, who idk why isn’t listed

They won in 2007 and then not again until 2012, they weren't even runner ups in 2009 or 2011 either. 2010 they were (under Messier)Don't they usually win that every year though?

So you want this huge decision for the franchise to be a troll job to fans in Vancouver?
We got off the merry-go-round with QuinnMess is not a coach.
And I have zero interest in the rest of the merry go round.

The Devils would do this unironically.Could you imagine being dumb enough to hire a coach because of another fanbase’s stupid chant?
one of my concerns is he is out of touch with the modern game, completely off the board with regards to analytics and the role they play in the modern game, and doesnt' come in with a balanced approach in the skill/grit department and essentially drives out a lot of our young skilled players. The flip side is he helps skilled players develop that Messier edge but the first two concerns still stand. Like I would be less concerned if he was given a 1 year show-me contract and had to earn a 1 year extension for like 3 seasons before getting a full 3 year extension contract. Also if we got some insight into his take on analytics. Like can Valliquette be part of the Messier interview process? I'm not opposed to letting Messier interview which I don't think he's gotten more than one chance to do in the last 20 years.![]()
But seriously, I think he'd be a good coach. He is one of the greatest leaders in the history of professional sports, he has an NHL leadership award named after him. He's won SIX Stanley Cups. He desperately wants to coach the Rangers and was considered for the job before already, Edge also said the mutual interest is like the interest between Scrooge McDuck and Money. There are many different schools of thought when it comes to hockey, many bash the old boys club and would even suggest bringing in some analytic nerd with no hockey experience to work for us. Despite my age I'm much more of an old school guy when it comes to hockey. I think all the intangibles that people make fun of are extremely important, having no captain on a team is like a ship without a captain. We saw that spiral out of control here after the departure of Hank, Staal, etc. I think when Mark Messier walks into the MSG locker room he commands respect to a degree that much more tenured coaches don't.
Isn't hr getting up there in age?Surprised no mention of Martin. I think its his job to lose if he wants it. It also creats continuity to a coach change.
Could you imagine being dumb enough to take that literally?Could you imagine being dumb enough to hire a coach because of another fanbase’s stupid chant?
