Gallant and that's it. No one else on this list is interesting.

Knoblauch can coach a mean SH% increase tho, so I give him credit there.

Brind'amour for sure but if he isn't going back to Carolina, he's probably going to Seattle. So maybe we're his 3rd best option? Or maybe Dolan is willing to pay him the big bucks and he comes for the $$$. Brind'amour should be in the running for Jack Adams this year (I'd give it to Q though) and Canes were in the President's trophy race most of the season. I'm honestly not sure who after that would be a good fit. Gallant's name gets thrown around but I'm not sure why he'd be good for the team other than addition by subtraction a la Ruff -> Martin

Boudreau, Tocchet, Julien, Tortortella, Tocchet and especially Babcock would be complete disasters.

Gallant, Martin or Knoblauch.

They won in 2007 and then not again until 2012, they weren't even runner ups in 2009 or 2011 either. 2010 they were (under Messier)

Yeah its only been recently where they've won a bunch. I just remember his teams falling short and everyone laughing about it.

He still won't coach this team though and he doesn't want to (said so on TMK show the other day when all the news broke.) I'd be more worried about him as an AGM as thats one step away from having the keys to the kingdom.

So you want this huge decision for the franchise to be a troll job to fans in Vancouver?

But seriously, I think he'd be a good coach. He is one of the greatest leaders in the history of professional sports, he has an NHL leadership award named after him. He's won SIX Stanley Cups. He desperately wants to coach the Rangers and was considered for the job before already, Edge also said the mutual interest is like the interest between Scrooge McDuck and Money. There are many different schools of thought when it comes to hockey, many bash the old boys club and would even suggest bringing in some analytic nerd with no hockey experience to work for us. Despite my age I'm much more of an old school guy when it comes to hockey. I think all the intangibles that people make fun of are extremely important, having no captain on a team is like a ship without a captain. We saw that spiral out of control here after the departure of Hank, Staal, etc. I think when Mark Messier walks into the MSG locker room he commands respect to a degree that much more tenured coaches don't.

one of my concerns is he is out of touch with the modern game, completely off the board with regards to analytics and the role they play in the modern game, and doesnt' come in with a balanced approach in the skill/grit department and essentially drives out a lot of our young skilled players. The flip side is he helps skilled players develop that Messier edge but the first two concerns still stand. Like I would be less concerned if he was given a 1 year show-me contract and had to earn a 1 year extension for like 3 seasons before getting a full 3 year extension contract. Also if we got some insight into his take on analytics. Like can Valliquette be part of the Messier interview process? I'm not opposed to letting Messier interview which I don't think he's gotten more than one chance to do in the last 20 years.

The few, the proud, the Claude voters. Obviously I don't have a great feeling about any of them to do that. I think he did fine with the Habs, and his Habs teams never had as much talent as these guys do.

When the yearly Wheel of Max Domi landed on point-per-game season, I remember that team being very fun to watch.
