Since the initial talk was putting their nation in good position for the next 2 Olympics, surprised I didn't see much (any?) talk about McDavid.

He's being positioned by a lot of the media as having Crosby potential or better. (not saying I agree with this assertion).

That said, Crosby was a bubble guy, who missed as a 19-yo rookie (2006) and was pretty good with a fairly important goal at 23 (2010).

McDavid will be a month away from 21 (2018) and 25 (2022). You'd have to assume if things go according to how most think they will, he'll be in contention for both teams (lock for 2022 IF he develops how most expect).

I made my roster with current NHLers. If its for the bext two Olympics Id add Rielly, Reinhart, Monahan, McDavid, ekblad and guys like that.

Yeah, Dillon should be there. Schwartz as well. Missed a few guys off the top of my head.

Drew Doughty might be too old for this team :) . Yes Canada needs to work on defence. Canada is producing forwards far better than any other nation. When it comes to defencemen, Sweden seems better lately and USA is at least on par. Goaltending for Canada has been mediocre at best.

You are right, Doughty misses the cutoff by less than a month. Regardless i think Canada is doing great developing quality Dmen and matches up with any country (although that Sweden lineup does look great)

Something like this for Russia

Yakupov - Grigorenko - Tarasenko
Nichushkin - Loktionov - Kuznetsov
Prokhorkin - Burmistrov - Kucherov
Panarin - Namestnikov - Khokhlachev

Voynov - Kulikov
Orlov - Zadorov
Sergeyev - Nesterov

Vasilevsky
Garipov
Bobkov

Crosby only had 1 and a half season before the Olympics, and a prolific 1 and a half at that. McDavid will have 2 and a half seasons iirc, so he has a shot depending on whether he is a Crosby-lite or not.

Crosby was a rookie in 2006. He had 0.5 seasons in NHL. McDavid will/should have 2.5 during 2018 Olympics.

Sweden looks to be the best based almost solely on goaltending (no one can touch Lehner and Markstrom as a pair). Canada's second and USA a distant third.

Kanada's U-23 team is better (on paper) than any national team aside from Kanada (duh), Sweden, Russia and USA.

It's Spelled Canada budyy get it right

There's no hard C in the Russian language. ;)

Grigorenko on the 1st line.

They probably wouldn't even get a medal with that roster.....

Sweden:

G:
Lehner
Markström
Lindbäck

D:
Karlsson
Ekman-Larsson
Hedman
Brodin
Lindholm
Larsson
Erixon

F
Landeskog
Johansson
Zibanejad
Kruger
Lindholm
Forsberg
Päärjärvi
Josefsson
Larsson
Rakell
Silfverberg
Lander
Lindberg

Excellent goaltending and defense, offense not so much. They could still give any other u23 team a run for their money though. A lot of good two-way forwards which would make this a though team to play combined with the D and Lehner.

I'd take canada over that lineup. the only thing sweden has is the goaltending and markstrom is awful and lehner is inconsistent

Just out of curiosity, why are you putting Viedensky on the first line? Has he been playing better this year?
