Pretty self explanatory. Of all the active players that are playing, as well as the LTIR players who are still under contract (but will never play again), whom do you see getting their number retired?

mcdavid
draisaitl
mackinnon
makar
ovechkin
crosby
malkin
stamkos
kucherov
hedman
vasilevsky
Kopitar
Doughty
Kane
Toews

LTIR
Backstrom

i’m sure many others that’s just off the top of the head

Karlsson will have his number retired in Ottawa

If Carlson ends up being a Caps lifer and part of another deep playoff run I could see it

Crosby and Malkin are obvious, but don't rule out Fleury or even Letang in Pittsburgh. This team will need to put butts in seats somehow during the impending dark age, and nostalgia - in the form of jersey retirement nights - sells.

Stephane Robidas for creating an island where players can heal, reset and just get better. A true builder of the game.

It seems very very likely that Aho and Slavin will have their numbers up eventually. Arguably the best forward in Canes history, and the clear-cut best D, signed through 2032 and 2033 respectively. They’ll leave the org post-prime if not at retirement, with a huge mark on the organization.

I imagine Ottawa will eventually retire Karlsson's number after 2 Norris seasons and almost leading them to a cup. I think it would be weird if someone else wore #65 for Ottawa.

In Colorado:
Gabriel Landeskog
Nathan MacKinnon
Cale Makar
Devon Toews
Mikko Rantanen
Erik Johnson

The latter two guys are playing elsewhere right now, but they both put in a lot of good seasons here and the rafters would not look right without them.

I could see the Avs retiring Landeskog's number whenever he finally accepts that the comeback isn't happening.
Not even a question, that's 100%. Same for Makar and MacKinnon.

You could say Erik Johnson, Devon Toews, and Mikko Rantanen are more questionable but given they retired Hejduk and Bourque I'd say they all make it. And I think they deserve it.

The Caps it’s interesting, they don’t really retire numbers as much. Obviously Ovechkin will be, but I won’t put money on many others. Bondra / Kolzig should likely have been, but they’re on a no one uses the number more than retire.

Carey Price's number will almost certainly be retired, but with a caveat that his will be the first Montreal Canadien jersey hanging in the rafters without a Cup. Some fans object on that basis; I think it reflects the modern reality that having many more teams means a player's legacy shouldn't necessarily be tied to team trophies. #31 deserves its place alongside the other Habs greats.

Can't wait to see 10.5 hanging in the rafters at the Bell Center. 😉😬
