There will always be detractors who never give him his full due. They’ve supposedly watched so much hockey, yet need to see him man his own team or McDavid to miss entire seasons to be convinced he’s an all-time talent.

By the time it’s all over, he should rank inside the top 15, but people might not be comfortable enough to rank him anywhere above 25-30.

They likely never watched him play even a full game. Whatever.

Drasaitl's talent is basicly Ovechkin level as a goal scorer and Bäckström as a playmaker Drai's bit more concentrated on playmaking but yea his tools/abilities are that typic.

How is he an Ovechkin goal scorer basically, no one’s Ovechkin at putting pucks in the back of the net. Also, Ovechkin never played with a McDavid, thank god for that.

If mcdavid will be 5/6th all time when it’s all said and done, drasaitl should be in the top 15-20 range. An elite passer who can score 50+ goals routinely and a playoff beast, all he is lacking is some playoff hardware. He’s a couple cups and a conn smythe away and I’ve had him closer to 12-15.

It’s hard for me to compare players pre 1980’s but the players id have over drasaitl almost no matter what in no particular order:

Gretzky
Lemiuex
Jagr
Orr
Howe
Ovechkin
Crosby
Mcdavid
Lidstrom
Bourque
Hasek
Roy
Plus whatever old timers

I likely see drasaitl and mackinnon pretty close to an all time ranking

That's more Sakic/Yzerman territory which is like 25-35. Top 20 is filled with players with more hardware. 1 art ross 1 hart isn't enough.

As long as Leon continues aging like he does, he will be clearly ahead of Yzerman and Sakic as he has had a better and more concistent offensive prime both in the regualr season and playoffs.

While he might never match their hardware he also hold the record of most assists in a playoffs series with 15 in 5.

At age 29 Leon is ahead of both Joe and Yzerman.

Draisaitl top 15 is clearly overkill. Like he's obviously has no chance of getting there.

At best, he's the third top forward of his era. Most of us would have him behind Mackinnon too, so fourth best of his era.

Top 15 all time is functionally reserved for best player of their era type players.

I can see him hitting top 50 all time, but he's very much not there yet.

I don't think he overtakes Yzerman or Sakic, and neither are close to top 25. Maybe he overtakes Malkin, but I don't have him top 50.

Peter Forsberg, Evgeni Malkin. Though taking health into consideration I can start to see the case for Draisaitl over them. I can’t say I would honestly take him over Joe Sakic, Steve Yzerman, Guy Lafleur either.

Are Yzerman and Sakic really nowhere close to top 25? What’s this most recent top 100 list look like?

The last HoH list had Sakic at 32 and Yzerman at 40. That's pre McDavid overtaking them both.

Kucherov is likely to overtake both as well.

130 years is a very long time for hockey. Top 15 is such an incredibly high bar. It's unlikely Kucherov hits that either.

32 is close to top 25, unless you meant to say top 15. Yeah Kucherov is not a top 15 all-time player without much question, I can name 15 better players since the 90s, but on the other hand he may end up around top 25-30 the way he’s going.

Well, kind of. The higher you go to the bigger the gap between players. So 33 is closer to 41 than it is 25.

Sakic was 32, McDavid pushed him to 33. Kucherov will push him to 34.

25 is centres like Messier and Esposito, which will be almost impossible for Draisaitl to overtake.

Yeah see I don’t see a big gap between those guys and Sakic at all, I would take Sakic over both at his best but I can understand them being ranked higher all-time.
