Given his deal will start two years after Matthews and MacKinnon’s current deals and a year before McDavid’s next contract, he has a good case to be the highest paid player for 25-26. I doubt Marner or Rantanen would end up ahead. Depends on how much he wants to push for money though. I think he might take a bit of a discount to try to win and end up slightly below Matthews and above MacKinnon. So 2nd highest for 25-26, then likely 3rd in 26-27 unless Eichel Kaprizov or even Bedard get a surprisingly big deal.

What was McDavid's salary now?

Over or under $16 million?

Draisaitl feels more safe first choice than today first choice.

Intimately

You certainly can.

But the national team at the World Championship level?

Why Finland won 2022 with a few pros from North America?

Czech Republic won 2024 with few pros?

NHL bigger than the national team in USA?

Or the national team doesn't mean?

Draisaitl sign highest agreement.

I think he takes Mcdavids current deal at a discount of 1-1.5M

12.5M x 8

Mcdavid signs 14M x 8

Bouchard 10.5M x 8

Those three insane playoff production is enough to allow oilers to win or compete heavily for a cup despite so much tied to 3 players

Likely the highest paid player in the league. He's also right at the age when declines usually start. So it'll be interesting to see how he performs in relation to the contract.

NHLPA pushes top guys to reset the salary ceiling. Hence MackInnon signing for 12.6 (they obviously wanted him to get more but he wanted to help the Avs out) and now Matthews going higher.

Half your Cap on 4 players. Is not smart. I read somewhere. No team has won a Cup. With a single contract over 10M. A Draisaitl trade now is the Oilers best move. Even though the return would be a little underwhelming to most Oiler fans.
