Where is Rantanen?

Read the thread I named a few, the list is too numerous.
Fair enough I didn't see your list... which is so dubious that I think it's genuinely you just throwing a list of random players with longer careers.

Doesn't appear well thought out and contains like 4 aggregators and nobody solidly above Rantanen, let alone being a peer.

If I didn't know any better I'd say you have a chip on your shoulder about Rantanen in some shape, way or form regardless of his ability or career numbers.

You never saw Damphousse play? He would make Rantanen look like a fool. You don't remember Mogilny?

Do you believe Damphousse is the best example for your counter-argument against Rantanen?

In Rantanen's championship year with the Avalanche, he scored 25pts in 20 games... and Damphousse has 23 in 20 with the '93 Canadiens.
Rantanen has 105 career playoff points in 86 games to Damphousse's career 104 points in 140. Scoring 1 less point in 50+ more games...

Sure, there's arguably era adjustments to be made. Different league at the time with rules and physicality allowed... but Damphousse is NOT the guy you want to use as a comparison.

And it doesn't change the fact your list is still filled with aggregators; guys who have neither individual hardware nor team hardware over long careers.

Just gonna call you a salty Montreal fan who didn't get to see his favourite Habs players get into the HOF.

Also his stats were boosted because he played with Makar and MacKinnon and Lehkonen. Let's see what he's going to do now.

Never saw the guy but from his stats it seems he never had a 100 point season even though he played during a higher scoring era than Rantanen.

He has less points in playoff games than Rantanen even though he has played 54 games more than him.

He didn't have Mackinnon and Makar to carry him. He was the guy carrying.

You can say the same about basically every star player. Malkin had Crosby, Forsberg had Sakic, Selanne had Kariya etc. Rarely a contender team has only one player soloing it all the way unless that one guy is McDavid. It's not like the Boston Bruins can enter playoffs and expect to get into finals with the help of Pastrnak scoring 40% more than the second highest scorer. Doubt that happens outside of regular season to anyone but again maybe McDavid and the Oilers.

So far Makar has 2 assists in five games so it is not clear to me which direction the boosting effect took place...but yeah this is a small sample so no need to make definite statements about that.

Where Damphousse didn't have a MacKinnon or Makar, he had a Roy... one of the best, especially in the playoffs, to ever play the game.
Goalies can almost single-handedly win a series like no other position can.

Colorado had... Francouz and Kuemper.

Can't exactly pretend Damphousse had no help. When the team is scoring, the goaltender has to keep the pucks out of the net. When the team isn't scoring, the goaltender has to keep pucks out of the net even moreso.

They weren't "Damphousse's Canadiens"... they were Roy's.

How many points did Makar have?

Many points. So whats your point? Bouchard has the second highest ppg in playoffs as a defenceman (min gp 50). But I doubt youd say he carries Draisaitl and McDavid.

It's a team sport so obviously good players are going to affect each others performance.

But it's interesting to see how this plays out next season with Rantanen. Obviously not having top 4 center and a top 3 defenceman by your side is a huge change. So far he is doing alright Id say.

Makar is one of the top 2 defenseman in the game. Hughes can be argued as being the best. MacKinnon is a top 5 player. No idea why you added Lehkonen as if to imply he carried Rantanen. No one will believe that.

However, you sound bitter that you lost your guy. No need to trash him as if he is awful and act like he was carried his whole career. Guys go through ups and downs. Look at Makar in this series. He has half the points of Rantanen in this series. Call out Makar before you call out Rantanen.

It’s okay to miss Rantanen in an Avs jersey.

Makar who? Quinn what? The best defenseman in the league is going to be Lane Hutson now.

You think I'm an Avs fan?

I hate that team since before they were the Avalanche.

I never said he's not going to get in, but he's not there yet. I said he need 400 more points, that should do it?

He has less points than John LeClair so far in his career. There's a huge list of players with greater achievements than Rantanen who aren't in the HOF.

I don’t really understand your point

He’s 28y..

By every reasonable estimation he’s going into HOF when he retires, but ofcourse not today because he’s again 28..

He hasn’t played a single shift with Heiskanen on the Stars

Their best player so I doubt that’s going to hurt his game
