Where is Rantanen? Who is Rantanen? Why is Rantanen? What is Rantanen?

Needs to get his ass in gear for the last three games just like he did against Colorado.

50/50. He will either go on an absolute goal binge and lead the Stars to at least a game 7. Or he will be anonymous and the Stars will be hard-pressed to extend the series any further..

To put it another way…Rantanen is a guy that you rarely go “well he didn’t have any points but man he was doing all the little things to help his team win”. When he’s on, you get 2 goals and 4 points and he’s unstoppable in the offensive zone. When he’s not, you get 0 goals, 2 points and a -3 in 4 games against Edmonton.

Even with the bad series his playoff pace this post-season is still 43 goals and 101 points. It just comes in batches.

Definitely a hit or miss player. When he's ON, completely takes over the game and a borderline top 5 player.

When he's NOT. doing cardio for the whole game.
That's why he's probably the most frustrating player in the league. Even when he's not on though he'll still find a way to chip in a point or 2 and people won't care, but unfortunately, it's been that way for a while and ultimately why he got traded. That's why it was funny seeing the hot takes after his hot streak.

For about 20-30% of games he'll be that guy against Colorado. If it's in the biggest games that's all people will remember. Just sucks that he decided to get pissed off and stick it to the Avs like he did and he didn't stay cardio Rantanen for a little longer.

All that said, he was one of the better Stars tonight and was at least contributing defensively. That was a bit of a rarity in his spell with the Avs. We did see some classic Bambi moments though.

Rantanen peaked too soon, would have been nice to spread out those 14pts that he had in those 3 games versus his former team. He had a killer instinct in Games 5, 6 and 7 and it's never been seen again.

Since both teams are down 1-3 and facing elimination by their respective Conference Final opponents, at this juncture after 4 games I thought it would be fun to point out:

Rantanen vs EDM: 0g 2a 2p -3 8sog 0 gwg 2 PIM 81:55 TOI

Stankoven vs FLA: 2g 1a 3p -2 7sog 1 gwg 2 PIM. 62:12 TOI

the Oilers accept your thanks for shutting him down

When is Rantanen...

...not the only scorer in Dallas? I think that's the reason Dallas is in trouble. They lack scoring depth. Edmonton gets secondary scoring from all lines. So does Florida. Dallas, not so much.
On paper, they have amazing depth. The problem is that they aren't scoring, not that the team is too top heavy.

But yeah, Jamie Benn looks completely cooked and when a guy like him is your captain, I guess that's gonna show.

1 week ago, the debate about Rantanen was how much better
then Lemieux he was, that he was better was settled, today, is a AHL or
ECHL player?

It's almost like we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions about a player based on a very small sample size of a single playoff year, or something.

I've heard there's an island named Conclusions somewhere in the south Pacific. It's got a bit of a "Bermuda Triangle" effect going on, so it's unsafe to get there by air or sea travel, which means the only way people get there is by jumping to it.

This time of year especially, it struggles to deal with overpopulation. :sarcasm:

My theory is that Rantanen never existed in the first place. Rantanen is just our unfulfilled expectations of hockey. At times its exciting and there's clutch goals and other times it lets us down.

A shared delusion brought on by stress. When we are stressed by Matthews unable to score there is Rantanen lighting it up. It's not a coincidence. Like Anakin hes bringing balance. Now that the Leafs are out we need someone to not score and there he is.

Or hes been great overall and like the rest of the Stars hasn't gotten it going in this series.

Maybe the real Rantanen were the friends we made along the way

Rantanen was brilliant in the middle of the first two rounds, but whatever case he has left will soon be buried. The highlight was hurting ungrateful Avalanche fans and that was fun to witness.
