Nikishin and Morrow added to the blueline along with young forwards in Jarvis, Stankoven, Blake and remember that Svech and Kotkaniemi are still only 25. Even with Aho and Slavin getting older it going to be a young team overall.

Can't deny the high end talent that Dallas has drafted. Canes have definitely kept a very steady pipeline and also found good value in players that were cast away by other teams. Chatfield, Martinook being some but then also a guy like Skjei who had been written off by the Rangers but had all the tools to become a two way beast.

Of course the whole Dallas team doesn't score a lot, and their scoring leader is defenseman with 3 points in 4 games. Still, Rantanen is paid to be a leader, and he isn't to put it mildly.

I mean it was quite clearly way to early to call out a player that good. Not sure why you are making excuses, his track record was way too long and good to do it before at minimum the series was over. Gotta love the arm chair internet hockey fan. 'Should have just played like that from the start'. Like he was choosing not to.

Also, it sure seemed like he was choosing too, with how he was speaking to the media, and how pouty he was during this time.

I believe even before his coming out party in game 5 he had the most shots/chances out of anyone in the playoffs and his adv stats for game 3 were dominating

He wasn’t playing bad the 1st 4 games, he didn’t have the puck luck he’s been having now and of course his confidence was a bit down after the 2 trades

of course when you take the last 4 games into account its foolish to say what that guy said, but when he said it we had almost 3 months of Rantanen not playing well or fitting in. So to go back and pick on a comment like that is a little disingenuous IMO.

You actually believe players actively try and mail it in? At this level? He was traded twice for the first time of his career after playing in the same place for 10 years. They arent robots.

I believe they need to leave that stuff at the door, there is a reason they are called professional players in a professional hockey league.

two of those double hat trick goals were deflections from defender skate, his luck had to change sooner or later
