Where is Rantanen? Who is Rantanen? Why is Rantanen? What is Rantanen?

People seems to ask Where is Rantanen. What about How is Rantanen?

Hope him and his family are getting settled into a new city and celebrating this win with his Finnish friends.

It’s always “wyd Rantanen?” and never “dywtsahtayotiG7 Rantanen?”.

Real ones will decipher it.

Agreed. Wouldn't be shocked if you won't see a trade from Colorado to Carolina for a long time either. They gotta have Carolina's GM's picture on a dart board.

None of this happens if Colorado allows Tulsky to speak directly to Rantanen prior to the trade.

MacFarland wanted to control what either side was hearing from the other, and it ended up being a game of telephone where Rantanen and Carolina had a mistaken idea of what was happening. So the trade goes forward and it becomes a disaster for both Rantanen and Carolina.

I do have to wonder if there was some intention behind the Canes’ rebounding him right back to the Avs’ division rival. Maybe they just took the best deal available, but it’s a hell of a coincidence that the best deal would happen to come from Dallas.

I've read a lot of comments by Avalanche fans that Rantanen isn't much of a driver anymore.

He definitely drove offense and drove DAL's comeback win in the third period of DAL's win last night. He created DAL's first two goals by himself. With Rantanen still in Carolina, you have to think COL takes that series.

Rantenen came, he saw, and he conquered bringing the Stars empire from the ashes of defeat to bask in the glory of victory.

That invisible loser who was fed points by Makar and Mack just ended Avs season in spectacular fashion
Incorrect. They lost to a better team and better coach. Why's it so hard to admit that the other team was better? As has been the case for 6 years now. Especially, when Rantanen was on the losing end. It just looks like that people want to go with whatever narrative works for them.

Incorrect. Colorado still loses to the team that they've ALWAYS lost to and the ciach Bednar has ALWAYS lost to.

Tales tell of a man who shows up only in the biggest of moments, when the lights are brightest. Scorned by his former love, he seeks only revenge. If he’s to lift the cup, it is to drink tears of sadness of his enemies from. Your medium sized city-villages are now at risk. Rantanen. Boom. Happened.

Or do a pre celly, stop at the goal line and tap it in.

This thread's making me look forward to an economic recession or depression. Maybe that'll bring people back down to earth a bit. Suddenly everyone thinks Dallas was never able to beat Colorado before Rantanen.

Friendly reminder that Canes would have traded Rantanen to Leafs for Marner, but Marner refused to waive his NMC.
I believe Canes first asked for Knies and then punted to Marner.

Knies would have been a better trade asset for Canes than Marner.

It kinda looked a little like self-hypnosis to me, the way the idea that out of such an offensively gifted stable of players, one particular guy could be enough of a passenger to warrant breaking up the band to get from underneath his next contract.

Justified in a number of ways at the time, though. Necas is a gamer, and the rumblings in Carolina these last few seasons about him not being happy with ice time or deployment did open an opportunity for the Avs to trade for a player they’d have more contractual leverage over, who also plays a style which could hum nicely with MacKinnon. (Maybe a Canes fan can chime in and confirm here but that’s what I recall ATM.)

The Avalanche have 7 or 8 years to get their get-back using the cap flexibility they sacrificed Rantanen for. If they arm up and go through Dallas on the way to a Cup, it’ll at least close the loop. If they don’t, this is modern day Scott Norwood, “laces-out, Dan!”, storybook shit.
The issue with Necas is that outside of one good playoff year (last year), the others have been highly disappointing.

That, plus the next time he hits someone with passion will be the first time, which is the antithesis of playoff hockey.

btw: “Gamer” is not a description that Canes fans would apply to Necas

Per Avs fans Necas is soft.

As a sorta Avs fan who was sad to see Rantanen go and sad to see the collapse last night, I have to say, it was still delightful this morning to read the terrible takes from the first few pages and then read all the dunks from the last two.

Should have re-signed him.

the coach of the Avalanche? Still don't understand where marner fits in

Leading up to the Stars finalizing the deal there were rumours that Marner was asked to waive his NMC and that the Leafs and Canes were working on a blockbuster deal involving both players.

I think Toronto made a few offers to Carolina that day, but Dallas won in the end.
