Where/how to watch 4 nations face-off? Outside US/Canada

Czech/Slovak viewers should boycott this travesty, instead of watching it, and so should all Czech and Slovak TV channels, if they have any self-respect left. They should flatly refuse to broadcast it, even if given the rights for free. This gimmick is worth less than nothing and only has a negative value for international hockey.

It's also easier to enjoy hockey when you're not emotionally involved

We are emotionally involved by being revolted by this disgusting event. 🤮

Slovakia was ****ed many times in the past, such as preventing it from playing in the Olympics in 1998 and 2002. This is a continuation of those discriminating practices. 😡

Hockey should be there for all nations, not four supposedly chosen ones. If they insist on it, fine, but the other nations should absolutely ignore & boycott such a disgusting event.

I cannot really disagree but I'm still curious...I mean McDavid has never played for Canada's top team with the other best players

While I respect all of your opinions...LOL...Does anyone know if TV Nova will be broadcasting the games in the Czech Republic and Slovakia? Thanks.

Slovakia was in a qualifying tournament for both 98 and 02 and failed both times to quality. Shocking with the quality of players Slovakia had.

You're clearly uninformed about hockey history. Slovakia was prohibited from using all of their best players in the qualifying tournaments both in 1998 and in 2002, despite the NHL releasing them. They were forced to watch the decisive games from the stands. Yup: from the stands.

Slovakia was ****ed many times over in international hockey since becoming independent in 1993, and it now continues at the hands of NHL in this disgusting gimmick pseudo-tournament. 🤮

I know. But Slovakia should still have qualified even with euro League players only, Slovakia was not only strong in NHL but aswell many quality players in European Leagues during those times.

So you are saying Slovakia would be good enough for a 8 team world cup tournament right now? Canada, USA, Finland, Czechs, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland...thats 7 teams with stronger rosters than Slovakia. Are Slovakia stronger than Latvia, Denmark, Norway is the question.

I'm saying that organizing a pseudo-tournament for only 4 countries (excluding the current World Champions), while sabotaging Olympics and the annual World Championships for decades, is disgusting and an outrage. 🤢

If the NHL wants to pretend they care about international best-on-best hockey tournaments, they should do it the right way. For example, by agreeing with IIHF to insert a February break like this every year, so that IIHF can move the annual World Championships from May to February (and cancel them in Olympic years, as used to be standard in previous decades).

But Slovakia should still have qualified even with euro League players only

That's irrelevant. They allowed every other advanced hockey nation to play with their best players, but not Slovakia. Slovakia was repeatedly ****ed over. Slovakia won their preliminary group at the 1994 Olympics, yet they did this to them both in 1998 and 2002. Only in 2006, they "suddenly" saw the light, and that was the first legitimate best-on-best Olympic tournament for Slovakia. The NHL made sure to sabotage and destroy the most recent two Olympics (despite Slovakia winning bronze at the last one).

1994 Olympics was without Nhlers.

None of the other qualifying teams had Nhlers either. So it was not just Slovaks who had this problem. Ask yourself how Slovaks failed to qualify in 98 and 02 against teams like Belarus and Germany who also had no Nhlers.

Any TV station that has NHL rights (at least in Europe) should broadcast this fake "best on the best" tournament, since it's under NHL umbrella. At least that was the case with World Cup in 2016.

Atleast in the world cup 2016 we had 8 teams. Russia and Czechs was there. But also 2 made up gimmick teams in team Europe and team north American. World Cup 2004 and 1996 was the best. 8 teams and no gimmick teams.
