Ooh I would love two Dubois as I think he’d also be great with Lowry and ves.
Hey, they come as a pair--Dubois Jr the player and Dubois Sr, the coach!
(but I corrected it anyway

I thought #1 c usually go for 8-9. And that’s what he is. So is Mark we have 2 1c.I'm guessing we can get him in the $7.5-8.5 range. I assume that without taking a pretty heavy discount (unlikely) Copp is gone. If Svech continues to look alright we likely re-up him on the cheap. Harkins and Ves won't be very expensive. Likely let Stastny walk unless he re-ups on the cheap. Perfetti and Gus should step in next year.
Agree with all of that except we didn't make a deal with Dillion we signed for him. Would rather make a deal with Copp but agree with everything you said.I think despite Dillons early season struggles he brings an element to his game that we've been sorely lacking. The Jets have been pushed around a lot since Buff left, and whilst Dillon hasn't stopped that from happening, he has raised team toughness measurably.
That might not be the end all and be all, but it still matters. Team psyche has a big hand in overall performance, and it's built through skill, size, toughness, and your goaltender. I don't think there's a magic formula for it but I think the Jets currently have found a nice balance.
I'd imagine Stanley will grow into that role, he's already doing it to some extent, but he hasn't necessarily earned that respect or reputation yet.
I think that either Heinola or Samberg will need to be moved because I really don't see a way for both of them to get an honest shot at the right time for them in their development cycle.
If Stanley jumps into the top 4 through this year's performance, and if Heinola takes a big step forward, I could see the Jets trading Dillon, but I honestly don't think it's the teams MO to trade guys they've committed to through deals we made with players. So unless Demelo, Pionk, Schmidt or Morrissey ask to be moved I think they at least play out their contracts here.
We have the best problem right now and it'll be interesting to see how it's navigated.
Yup and that's why I think he's maybe the only one to be moved but I also think the org loves what he brings so if Stanley can't replace that I don't think they'll move him.Agree with all of that except we didn't make a deal with Dillion we signed for him. You clearly like your D men big, but size isn't everything in today's NHL.
Ville is an extremely talented D-man who had a bad training camp. I'd say there would be every reason to assume he will be ready next year. The only problem with Ville is his size, which will make it harder to fit into our top-4 .
Samberg has not shown nearly the same NHL readiness as Heinola in his time on the Moose. He is big and has skill, but has not stood out in the AHL.
Back to Dillon--he is a $4M dman--3.9 to be exact--which makes him exactly $3M more than his potential replacement, Stanley. That $3M, along with Stastny's $3.75, could make it possible to afford Copp and Dubois.
There is a reason Dillon was left unprotected by Washington. Aside from size, hasn't added much to the Jets D in general or to Pink's game in particular. . And at 31 years of age, he is on the far side of the curve.

What a turnout in Morrissey. Growth and increased respect in Stan. So yes and no more than just adding two guys.Very much agree with this point -
And while he may not have stopped us from being pushed around, he has helped reduce that problem.
We added two dmen this year and our defense is much better than the tire fire we experienced LY - is that all on adding 88?

Okay but that’s what Schmidt does. If we didn’t have Dillion we have forbort. Not quite as good but all those changes you mention are Schmidt.Yes, JoMo is playing much better - now that he has a solid RHD playing with him
Demelo is now allowed to move down to the third pairing in support of young Stan.
So yes, the addition of these 2 impacts all of it - in a good way.

Wasn’t he a 1c for Columbus?Tough to say. He's a 1C right now for sure, but he hasn't really played at this level for any period of time before this. He's had spurts but his overall offence was a step below what it currently is and offence is what really gets you paid. At $9m he would be the 10th highest paid center in the league and I don't think the Jets will go that high. I'm predicting 6 or 7 years max $8.5m. Chevy has done a good job handing out those next contracts to players and getting them to buy in before they potentially hit a higher payday down the line. I think PLD likes the fit here and likes Winnipeg itself which is a bonus. So maybe we can shave a little off the top and go 7 years. On the open market he 100% likely gets 7 years at $9m.
I would pick PLD over Laine 100 times out of 100. Roslovic is up to 3 points in 11 games. Back to the future for him. Great trade! We were ready to shell out major cash for Laine - PLD is $8.5 x 8 I think
