Where does David Carle coach next season?

With Denver's elimination, Carle's season is over. I expect a lot of NHL teams are about to throw a lot of money at him. But I believe him when he says that he cares about the prospect of winning, too, especially given that he's likely to have some choices.

So where does he end up? Does he make the jump this season?

I think the best "fit" for him of teams with a chance to fire their coach would be Anaheim. But they could keep Cronin. Of the teams extremely likely to fire their coach or not continuum with their interim coach (NYR, Philly, Chicago, Boston, who am I missing?), none of them seem like great situations for one reason or another. If those are his only offers, does he stay at Denver? What would they have to offer in terms of control (or money) to get him to change his mind?

The wild card is of course if the Avs get eliminated early, which is possible, and they fire Bednar. I imagine that job would be very appealing for him.

Anaheim is the only job that theoretically could be open next year that I see him taking. Everywhere else that could be open either has no talent to work with (Chicago, Nashville), is on the way down (Boston) is a complete organizational circus (New York, Vancouver) or a combination of all three (Philly)

Although if the number is high enough I'm sure that there will be something he can't resist

I know everyone hates the Anaheim coach but they played way above expectations this year. Can't see Cronin getting fired for Carle.

Chicago makes the most sense to me as the move. Bedard, plethora of prospects and a lot of cap space would be too tempting for a college coach to pass up.

Carle would probably not take on a rebuild.

My guess is Philly makes a push for him.

No they absolutely did not. The only reason they weren't at the bottom of the standings with San Jose is goaltending.

He’ll be coaching at Denver. Carle seems like one of those coaches who has a job at DU as long as he wants it. I don’t see him giving that up to jump to the NHL, miss the playoffs 2 years in a row, and be fired by 2027.
I think at some point he'll make the jump. He's competitive like that. Also, I expect he'd be a prime candidate to coach the Oly team someday if he were an NHL coach, and I'd think he'd want to do that. But I don't think it's necessarily going to be this year.

He's also only 35. There's no rush to jump into the NHL if his heart changes over time.

I think there is a lot of speculation that Cronins contract is up at seasons end... maybe a duck fan can correct me but i havent seen anything say different.

So i could def see a scenario where the team parts ways with him... IDK that Carle is the guy wed bring in.... tho i think he would be a nice choice with all the young guys on the roster.

Our goalies are def carrying our point totals.... team is still bottom of the league in shots for /shots against, Pk, PP, Goals for and goals against.

Nightingale is about $900K at michigan state

Carle could push about $1.25 million without trying

lower end NHL coaches are at the $1 million mark

Coors family could even bumps up that salary

Carle hasn't ever said he would never leave Denver. He's said he has a good thing going at Denver, has a young family and roots in the region, is well compensated by college standards, and has plenty of job security there. So to get him to move, someone is going to have to make it worthwhile for him to leave all that. He won't be leaving to take on any kind of apprenticeship.

To me, that just screams the Rangers. They are almost certainly going to move on from Laviolette, and they always go for the sexy choice. Right now, no one is in more demand in the coaching ranks. He could get unprecedented term and annual salary for a rookie coach. Granted, there's no job security for NHL HCs, but there is the guaranteed contract. I think he ends up in Manhattan for a huge windfall.

Cronin has one more year left on his deal and I would be very surprised to see him let go for another first time NHL coach.

I’m out of the loop but what’s the case for him being more relevant than whoever the next best AHL coach a la Carberry is?

Why would a struggling locker room, or any NHL playoff team, listen to a 35 year old who never coached in the NHL? I don't see most people wanting to take that job on as their first. The Rangers are in free fall. It sounds like he'll stay in Denver.

I think he's getting double that at the NHL level with 4 year term. He's THE hot name.

He would take the job in exchange for shitloads of guaranteed money, of course. He's not taking the job otherwise. If the Rangers give him the kind of contract it's going to take to pry him out of Denver (and outbid every other NHL team bidding for him), he'll never have to work again unless it's by choice.
