How's he'd played this season?

Painfully slow, the reach is worthless when he is routinely beaten to loose pucks. The physicality is still there and he will drop the gloves to protect teammates, but he doesn't look good otherwise. His mobility or lack thereof is a major issue.

I would be shocked if any team was interested in him, he’s a 7/8 D on his best day.

If can see some team looking at Greene for cheap depth, though he might not be interested in leaving the area.

Teams are always looking for depth

He washed up. He had a HOF career but he is a liability at this point. I actually thought is was really bad in the playoffs last time I saw him on a regular basis 3 years ago.

How's he'd played this season?

first 5-6 games was a train wreck and then he got steadily better. He’s been solid. Bottom pair guy but an experienced leader and defender. He tries to pinch in the ozone too much for my liking. Would rather him just accept that he’s a defensive dman now. Faster skaters will beat him on quick transitions but he’s good with his stick and can win some of those when he gets beat to the outside.

He’s slow when he’s standing still. Takes a long time to get him going when he stops moving.

He’s really good at Killing penalties still and he’s a force when he drops the gloves which is nice to have.
I think he’s valuable to a team that needs an extra defender for the playoffs but already has their top4 set.

I love Chara and everything he did for Boston, but honestly not sure what playoff contender would legitimately want him. For the last few years with the Bruins Chara would always look old and slow come playoff time. He would often have solid regular seasons, but the length of the season and increased pace of play come playoffs led to him looking slow and burnt out often. If he's looking that way early in the season, there's very little hope of him being useful come playoff time. I love the guy, but he's pretty toast at this point. Great mentor and locker room presence, so if that's what you're looking to add then have at him. But otherwise, yeah he's pretty much a liability at this point.

As others have said, he's lost his foot speed and mobility. Still an okay poke checker but strong and physical in front and good on the PK. A good player for a 7th spot on a playoff run on bottom pair minutes

After watching him in Washington last year I can say this, the Caps are out. He’s not an effective player anymore.

I could see a team like the Leafs looking to bring him in to be the #7D guy if they do end up moving one of Dermott or Holl.

One of the issues with him the last few seasons IMO is he has played too many games before the playoffs, and he seems to run out of gas over the course of the season.
A team that can let him play sparingly down the stretch may see him be a solid depth D in the playoffs. He still still has a great reputation and never seems to get called for any of the million interference plays he makes in the playoffs.

Chara in Toronto would be strange

Chara would be an ok pickup for a playoff team, pretty much if said team decided to play 7 D in the playoffs

He could kill penalties, and occasionally rotate in.

I like the 7D idea in the playoffs, since it seems like a D always goes down in the first period, which is critical in the playoffs

Are you serious with the bold? Take a look at the fancy stats--they are appalling. Watch the game last night? Both goals indirectly due to him (first one not getting puck out caused Palmieri to ultimately take a penalty and PP goal; second one a crazy rush into the O zone and turnover leading to a 2 on 1 goal).

Absolute trainwreck. I wouldn't be surprised if someone traded future considerations (aka nothing) or picked him off waivers if he was put there. He makes the minimum, and would be good for a locker room, but that's it. He can't play anymore, fullstop.
