Where do the Leafs go if they blow it yet again?

If the Leafs core cared about anything as much as you seem to care about a few beers and jerseys being thrown on the ice after they mailed it in for a tenth year running, the team might still be playing today. Alas, the best we’ve gotten are Toronto media mouth pieces railing against mean social media comments and the odd person asking Marner IRL when he was going to sign… six years ago.

This ain’t it, Chief.
I don't think you really understand anything I've written to be honest. You seem to think I'm trying to defend Matthews and Marner or something.

I hope you realize Toronto was already a unique market lots of players don't want to play in. Last night is only going to make that phenomenon worse.

No sorry, I don’t realize that as again, they’ve always been fine when signing free agents. They signed Tanev, OEL and extended McCabe. They signed Stolarz for nothing when he had his choice of plenty of teams. Tavares still desperately wants to re-sign even after going through the war zone of having beers thrown onto the ice. And no, teams like Ottawa don’t have comparable facilities and perks like playing for Toronto gets you, keep coping.

There’s literally been only one player over this era that left the team for comparable salary when the team wanted to keep him, ROR. He is the only player that fits the criteria you claim is a phenomenon.

The only thing ridiculous is thinking it's acceptable to throw trash at your own team's players because they didn't meet your expectations. That's why Toronto is the worst fanbase in the league and why more and more players are going to make sure they stay away from that toxic city.

Expect a lot of NTC to be updated this summer to include TO, if it wasn't on there already.
It's nasty and toxic for sure, but calling it assault is just ridiculous.

I understand what you are writing, just it’s complete histrionics with no grounding in reality. Players who avoid the Leafs because some drunk fans got Big Mad in the final minutes of a season-ending blowout loss are ones they should avoid signing anyway. Pressure is a privilege and all that.

They signed all those guys before their fanbase threw beers at their own players and booed a hometown hero off the team. The only one coping here is you because you have absolutely nothing lmao.

Yeah, players are just lining up to play for your Leafs because I'm sure the benefit in having the best facilities as opposed to really good facilities outweighs the risk of receiving death threats and having to dodge beers if you lose to the defending cup champs.

Lmao, your post I quoted said already people didn’t want to sign in Toronto before this, please keep your story straight.

Now you’re making up a story about death threats. Pathetic.

You are becoming more hysterical with every post, lol. What next, will a retired CIA officer have called Mitch to give him the special set of skills speech? Are you sure you don’t work for Leafs PR?

Pure cope.

I don't think what I'm saying is that hard to follow if you aren't in denial. Matter of fact, it's pretty simple: Toronto was already an undeniable market for a lot of players because of the pressure and toxic fanbase. Every player is aware that those things, the ones that sign there believe the pros outweigh the cons. However after a display like last night where the fanbase had a complete meltdown and the core foundation of the team proved that they're truly not good enough to win in the playoffs, it's only natural that players might consider Toronto to be more undesirable after a new low display by toxic ass Leaf fans and a new low of an embarrassing performance by the top players. Players around the league will absolutely look at Rantanen being so close to ending up in Toronto where elite players choke against the pressure of an insane fanbase, and instead ending up in Dallas where he plays in a low pressure market on a good team.

Players typically base their decision on where to sign on the same few things: chance to win a cup/compete in the playoffs, taxes, weather, pressure. Toronto has high taxes, shitty weather, unrivaled pressure (where now the new low is the pressure if you'll be booed off the ice and have beers thrown at you), and now the team doesn't look very good (and will look significantly worse now that Marner is walking). Cope if you think that's not going to impact Toronto's reputation around the league. Complete delusional cope, par for the course with that market though.

Everyone already hates the Leafs, this isn't a revelation.
This is like the annual “Hate the Leafs” day. We fans suffer through a long season of Leafs media (and some of their fans) promoting how great their club and players are and how it’s different this year and the Cup is theirs. Then, after they are knocked out of the playoffs, again, those who have suffered listening to the crap get to respond.
It’s like a national holiday up here. Well actually it is! Haha.

I think we all need to calm the f*** down.

They lost to what is likely the best team in hockey at the moment having dragged them to 7 games. They looked like DOG SHIT in 3 of the 4 games they lost but look at Washington. Look at Vancouver...Winnipeg. Lots of teams have fallen far short of where they should be.

I'm relaxed.

It probably is for any hometown kid that was considering signing in TO this offseason to live out their dream of becoming a hometown hero.

Look how they treat hometown heroes if they fail.
Look how the hometown treat their hockey hero’s who give it all they have, regardless of winning. Gilmore, Clarke, Sittler, Salming, and the list goes on. Give it your hardest effort and the TO fans will love you. They already adore Tanev. It’s about trying. Marner, Matthews, and Nylander convey they don’t give two craps. They avoid getting a bloody nose.

I'm telling you no player in the league is looking at those guys and saying "they just didn't care enough".
