It is clear this main dudes on this team can’t step it up and be “the guy” in playoff hockey,

These guys are a bunch of rockstars on skates. Was Bieber in the crowd or was he on the ice? I couldn’t tell. No heart, no sense or urgency , no extra gear from most of the core.

Matthews bleeds this team dry every contract. Marner has been too much for his play when it matters most. If they gave a crap they’d take a bit of a haircut to allow the team to get some real depth. But he/they won’t.
Marner goes to somewhere stupid like Vegas where he doesn’t get a microscope on him I think. Who cares where Tavares goes. If he wants a cup he ain’t staying in Toronto. If he goes or stays, it doesn’t matter. This team is COOKED as it is, sorry leaf fans, time to keep Nylander and hit reset.

Nylander is a guy who avoids hits like it's the Black Death from medieval times. Good luck building a winning team with that guy.

True, yet he has been making it work in the playoffs anyway most of the time.

I am sure the leafs fans are happier with Nylander, who isn't gritty, but is productive, than Matthews who hits a bit but can't impact the game offensively to save his life.

Toronto is a f***ing disaster, this is the most deflated I have ever been as a fan of this team. It's a weird feeling because I'm not even disappointed or upset, in previous years I was. I was almost expecting this, hoped for better.

The old Leafs when we had Bozak-Kessel-JVR-Phaneuf was more likeable than this core of bullshit.

I can tolerate losing, you can't win it all every year. However I cannot tolerate showing up to the playoffs with 0 effort, year after year.

In the TWO biggest games of this cores careers, they get f***ing slapped around on home ice, 6-1 both games.

How can they show up for game 7 like that ?

The fact of the matter is, they have no heart, no balls, no back bone. Group of entitled prima donnas that only care about wearing designer clothes and getting paid.

These guys are not winners. They can be complementary pieces to a championship team elsewhere, I would fully expect that to happen. Marner going to a team as the 3rd option guy and having success. But as a group here, they don't have what it takes.

This was the final straw for this group.

If management brings Marner back under any circumstance, I am done with this team and will sign off HFBoards for good. I have had enough of this crap.

Yep. It's classic Treliving that he tried to re-sign Marner even though he's a ghost when the games matter. He runs hockey ops like a business. Can't lose an asset for nothing, who cares about winning! If Marner somehow ends up staying it would be an epic failure so I'm also all for it because Florida isn't going anywhere in the next 3-5 years. With this mix of core guys Toronto isn't getting past them.

My question to people who want the team blown up is this................how will they be better? Like it or not, this core still got them 108 points for the year (4th in the NHL), still puts them in the playoffs every year, still is a contender. I don't like their playoff performances either, but what exactly do you do about it? You have three star players in their prime. You can't just blow that up. Some tweaks are needed, some soul searching, etc. But they still have a good core. They just need more sandpaper come playoff time. Because how do you replace Marner's 102 points? With what? With who? Who kills the penalties?

Isn't Wilson signed for like another 5 years? I doubt Washington moves him, unless it's part of some big trade for Matthews.

I think Bennett is a free agent so they could sign the POS if they want in the offseason. He would make them tougher to play against.
