Where do Maple Leaf players live?

Asking the question seems stalkerish and then it becomes embarrassing when you realize you actually know some of the answers, lol. My guesses are based of pics of I've seen of players in or around their homes. I think Lupul lives in one of the condos on Blue Jays Way and Wellington. Landy Fields also lived in the same building but then later moved to a residence at the Thompson Hotel. Franson lived in or around the Westin Hotel in the Queen's Quay area. I think Reimer may have lived closer to Queensway. I know Sudin used to live in Forest Hill.

Bozak, Bernier, Komarov, Jonas Valenciunas, and former leaf Matthias all reside in trump tower. Kadri lives out by exhibition in a condo at Bathurst and lakeshore. Gardiner and Rielly live in maple leaf square, 55 Bremner, lots of social media stuff to confirm they live there. Yes Kessel and Bozak lived at college park 2. There is no hot dog stand outside that condo and there literally never has been in the time Kessel played here.

That's as much as I'll share. I know more stuff including a couple players emails, but I'm not that much of a jerk that I would share it and I'm literally never going to do anything with that knowledge... But let's just say they are so hilariously simple it's like they're hiding in plain sight.

Source: I live in Toronto and walk around a lot. Also whenever you see the leaf eps or snapchats / instas there are lots of clues if you know TO and you know condos. Trump confirmed by my own eyes and by employees who work there. It's not really a secret if you live downtown... People are generally decent and don't even bother them too much when they're out and about either.

Kadri lives in the building beside me, or maybe his gf(assuming he has one) not too sure. I don't really care tbh, I don't get all that starstruck, I just see him sometimes when I'm walking my dog. I'm in the bathurst and lakeshore area, in case you're looking to stalk...err uh meet him

Well I guess there's some confirmation about Kadri. It's a good area if you're someone who doesn't wanna be bothered. It's quiet and there's not much foot traffic here as opposed to say, liberty village or the area around the ACC.

On the leaf episodes last season.. Or was it HBO? They literally did a whole bit on him in his condo... Getting ready for the game, leaving out of the parking garage, driving down the streets in that area. Seriously it's not a secret, these guys don't live in secrecy in safe houses, they count on the good nature and common sense of people and realize there are crazies out there, but then remember that they are big professional athletes who can easily check anyone who steps out of line. These guys are also usually fiercely protected by their building staff, so there's a bubble at least.

Another point to add is that there are hundreds and hundreds of people in advertising/marketing, sponsor companies etc that have all these players full Rolodex. I'm talking addresses, numbers etc. At first you'd think it's amazing that info is not all over the Internet, then you remember people are generally not psycho.

I don't remember the episode tbh. I've seen him hop into an SUV with others on a game day. I assumed it was security but who knows.

This is something I speculated on a while back.
Living in a Cap world, every organization wants to get an edge.

What would stop the Leafs from building this amazing, say 10 million dollar plus mansion/complex somewhere in the city. It would have multiple units in it, say 7 or 8 sub units in it (or more?). Amazing gym, workout rooms, in a gated private area.

"UNITS" could be offered to players, families, UFA's as temporary lodging... I know players often live in hotel rooms sometimes for weeks/months pending their contract status. Something like "as a member of the organization we also have this space available for you and your family, coming to a city you don't know and hunting for a place to live, here's a 4-5 star dwelling you can "use as a member of the team".

Not trying to "skirt the salary cap", but wouldn't this be a huge bonus to any player as say a UFA, knowing their accommodation was included for a crazy low monthly rate, in a building with teammates etc and other families? How could the league see this a cap circumvention in any way? Just the team offering a place to live for a dirt cheap rate. Cannot be quantified monetarily for cap reasons.

I am surprised this hasn't happened yet in sport.

That would be a taxable benefit for the players and they would have to include that under their employment income for tax purposes. I'm pretty sure there is something in the CBA that would make this cap circumvention because it would essentially be part of a benefits package/bonus in a way. If it wasn't circumvention they would have probably taken advantage of something similar to this already. But who knows?

Kessel lived by a hotdog stand.

Not joking, but I actually saw him one snowy day with a Pizza Pizza bag a few years ago on Bay at College Park. I think that's where his condo was, so it makes sense. Not a fat joke, everyone eats 'za.

Back when W. Nylander first joined the Marlies, they had a shot of him with his roommate, Viktor Loov, overlooking the Gardiner from a condo in Liberty Village. Very close to Ricoh, so it made a lot of sense. That was sometime last year, so who knows if he's still there now.

Wow, I know more I am saying less. But yeah, you can get good stuff downtown, not for cheap, but its good stuff for two guys splitting rent. You can get a masterpiece for 3k a monthy.

Alot of the older players have landlines registered under their names. You can 411 it. Complete invasion of privacy, but interesting for common curiosity.

Most of the Leafs don't even drink any more after a game, its that "NHL" now around these parts.

God forbid they have an "NHL" summer.

Kirk Muller, Dave Manson and Travis Green all lived in the York Mills neighbourhood during their days, within a couple streets of each other. Antonio Davis (Raptor) lived there too. I used to bug their wives as I walked home from school.

And I don't know if Shayne Corson and Darcy Tucker lived in that same neighbourhood, but I saw them at the corner plaza there twice.

I think it's common of the older Leafs with families to live in midtown or up in the burbs. There are just no old Leafs these days.

I believe the Nylanders live together
Conner Brown stays with his parents too.

Why wouldn't Hyman too, though he does have University life under him.

Of course there can be different variables involved and I can see why some of the younger players may still live with their parents, but the post I quoted inferred that anyone originally from the GTA would just live with their parents. I struggle to see why an adult with the income and lifestyle of a professional athlete would willingly live with their parents.

to support them ?

you assume all parents of professional athletes are swimming in money

some people actually care for their parents or family household
just saying

Except that's not what the post I quoted was getting at. They said any local players have the option of shacking up with their parents. Nothing to do with the situation you're describing.

You have to be a millionaire to live in the downtown-ish neighborhoods in Toronto anyway. The young kids seem to live in the condos around the ACC, but I imagine if and when the team has those long standing veteran again, you'll see them in Forest Hill, the Bridle Path and those kids of places again.

you don't have to be a millionaire to rent; i can't imagine anyone on the current roster would buy a place to live in

When Phaneuf signed his contract it was at the Leafs Hotel in Ann Arbor.
From 24/7 it wasn't very hard to figure out where he lived, it was pretty obvious it was the Avenue Condos if your familiar with Forrest Hill. I'm sure they live all over the place, Sundin lived on Russell Hiil Rd, then Oakville, Cujo in the burbs (King City specifically), Tucker, Corson, Thomas and Roberts in Lawrence Park. Due to the location of our practice facility, it seems most guys live in the condo's in Liberty Village/western parts of Harborfront, between the ACC and our practice facilities. Almost all the Jays live in the condos around the dome and live elsewhere in the off-season, probably the same for most Raptors but some may have moved further west due to the practice facility being moved to the ex grounds.

Makes sense to own and pay down a mortgage over just renting, these guys easily have enough money to do that.
