How soon would a decision need to be made for the Hurricanes? I'm guessing if they don't have some sort of deal/plan in mind already to get away from Bally that they would just stick with Bally Sports for the upcoming season, yeah? I don't know jackshit about the TV deal truth be told for the team.

So far, two teams have left Bally's with different models.
Over the Air--Panthers rights were "sold" (don't know the financial arrangements though) to 3 Scripps Stations in Miami, West Palm Beach & Naples (SE and SW Florida for those that don't know the geography) for traditional over-the-air broadcasts.
Via an APP--Stars... folks that live in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, 42M or so, can view the Stars via an App. Will that APP be better than Bally's? Will the major streaming companies add that APP to their platforms?
RE Canes: Very complicated and doubtful they can get wide OTA distribution.
In the Triangle, they would have to get one of the locals, ie. Capitol Broadcasting who distributes NBC & Fox in Raleigh and WILM in Wilmington. If not Capitol, then they would have to negotiate with national ABC & CBS management since they are parent owned. Then, they would have to get the rest of the State's TV distributors + a SC station(s) to come on board to enable multi-state wide distribution. Further, there is only around 15M between NC and SC so a lot less eyeballs for distribution versus Dallas.
Thus, I think an APP is their only pathway if they don't stay with Ballys/Diamond (or if Diamond/Bally's goes bankrupt).

Yeah I think it's either partner with WRAL (Capital Broadcasting) or go in-house with a streaming app. I actually think it'll probably be a combination of the 2 where the games will air on WRAL but also be available to stream for those on the go. WRAL becomes even more of a necessity for those in the region, meaning they can sell even more expensive ad slots while the Canes get themselves a great network partner which immediately gets them into every house in the majority of the region. I doubt it will be an abc, cbs or nbc station though. Back in the “old” days before cable it was auxiliary stations, not Nationals, that typically broadcast games. Boston’s 38, ny’s channel 9 are two.
I don’t think Capitol will give up and/or can’t give up 82 nights or so of national programming.

Diamond is most likely not going to receive the same revenues since comcast negotiated them into their most expensive tier (which is surely a smaller part of their subscriber base)
