We have 8 playoffs series now and which one/s can we say that one Coach has clearly outcoach the other?
West
Hawks were supposed to win easily and they did. Coaching had 0 impact.
Sharks swept Nucks. Obviously Sharks' Coach outcoached Canucks'.
Blues had the 2-0 lead in the series and then lost 4. Another example of Clear outcoaching.
Our series, no matter who wins, I am not sure coaching has much to do With it.
East
Sens winning "easily", their Coach outcoached the other.
That's it.

I can't come up With any example of Babcock outcoaching somebody, but I can't think of the opposite either.

I am not sure coaching had an "game deciding" impact on ANY of these series.

How exactly did the Sharks outcoach canucks??
-The canucks had scoring problems all year, and they could not score enough to win a single game. I would call that player deficiency. Goaltending was supposed to be strong, it was not (Game 1 and 3 were bad).

How exactly did the kings beat the blues?
- I have no idea i didnt watch any. Do the coaches matter all that much?

These are very tough questions because measuring coach skill is almost impossible.
Show me a "quality" coach, and I'll show you a "strong roster" of players.

Is Babcock good? I honestly have no idea.

If we played MY lines. I would play all 5' 10' euro skill players, and we would prolly lose every game. And I would say "I thought skill would beat size". Because it does right? According to babcock he mixes skill with size. (This explains his use of Abby on the top line, whether you like it or not, even though alot of us here think Nyquist on the top line would be better, MAYBE it wouldn't) But we will NEVER know.... Until we do know.

It's not a matter of Babcock being outcouched by Boudrau but rather Babcock's own blunders (Lashoff, Cleary, 4th line on ice during 5 min PP, etc.).

Joel Quenneville has never beat Detroit Red Wings with his teams in a playoff-series as a head coach (since he was an assistant coach with Avs at 1997). I still think that will happen at 2nd round, but interesting to see how the Hawks/Quenneville handle the pressure. We could see interesting things if the series does not go with Hawks way.

He had somekind of mental collape at 2009, let's hope that again.

It's almost like he read this post. A few of us said "he doesn't mix up the lines!" and what does he do? He mixes up the lines and it works really well.

It's hard to be upset with him when he does what we say.

As much as I'd love to simply just believe we have a silver bullet against Quennville that means we have this series in the bag, those are four Stanley Cup winning Red Wings teams, and the fifth was a half period away from winning the Cup as well. We simply had the better teams.

That is a great article, liked what we are hearing from Kindl and Smith in it too. Curious especially given the writers Detroit background why he couldn't get a Zetterberg or Kronwall on record. But it was insightful.

Ok I'll answer. First off maybe I called for headrolling a little bit early (ie not the playoffs). But this season isn't done yet and the biggest question to me is what happens in this series we are in now. I did believe we where built to beat anaheim. Didn't think it would be a easy series but I believe we had their number.

But now we finally have a series to put the question to the task. On paper we are a inferior team. Now granted, paper means jack **** to anything actually happening in real time. But to me this is the "real test". Granted I have also been open in my believe we take down this series (wings in 7) after tonight and thursday possibly wings in 6.

I will also say it was really frustrating watching lineup decisons made by babs in the "long preseason". But please note I am a fan and not a coach/management/player so their could be quite a bit I don't see that would change my opinion on quite a bit if I where privy to it.
