When fighting should lead to an automatic ejection

When a player jumps an opponent who just delivered a hard hit.

I love hitting in hockey, I want to see as many hits as possible. But this generation of players seems to take offense to any bump regardless of whether the teammate is a superstar or a plug or even if the hit is absolutely clean.

Knock if off already ya weak ass donkeys.

I agree with the case you're making but think they should give a 2, 5, and 10 every single time. It happens occasionally but it needs to be automatic.

I know there's circumstances where a player may think his teammate just took a dirty hit, or maybe it even was a dirty hit, but if you want your retribution it's going to cost you and your team.

It always did seem contradictory to me when people complain about the No Hit League but then are ok with players getting jumped for throwing a clean hard hit.

As a fan of hitting and fighting, I'm with you.

Every big hit shouldn't result in someone going after a player, and most of the time the officials break it up anyways.

If someone goes after your star player with a hard hit, all bets are off, same with the goalie.

But a good hockey hit shouldn't mean a fight has to happen.

It’s annoying but it’s such a fast paced game and when guys see their teammates laid out they react.

The Hitter can always do what Romanov does when he throws a huge clean his and someone comes after him. He doesn’t drop his gloves

Are we not allowed to solve this issue until every worse thing in hockey is solved?
truly dont know what you mean, are you implying that fighting is the solution to the other worst things? or just that because there are worst things doesnt mean we cannot solve this one issue

there are things much worst than fighting in this sport, like elbow to the head or crosscheck under the nose and so on
My issue isn't either fighting per se, it's with fighting as a reason to a clean hit which very well acts as a deterrent to giving out clean, hard hits.

Protecting your teammates is fine but the problem is the line got moved closer and closer and then eventually was erased so no distinction was given for a clean vs. a dirty hit. So yeah, I agree, err on the side of punishing players who try to acenge a dirty hit if it is what has to be done to stop them from avenging clean hits

Would be effective if the other player always got 5 for fighting still but I have seen a few instances where he got a mere 2 minute roughing penalty
