Moncton
Obviously I am a big fan because not only is he a local and the head coach of the Moncton Wildcats. But Gardiner has a seriously impressive trophy room already. Mainly coached in Usports here in NB. Last year he not only brought UNB to win their 2nd title in a consecutive year but he had a perfect season as well. Now he has been at the helm of the wildcats are 53-9-2 and bringing them to the memorial cup for the first time since 09-10 when the cats won the Gilles Courteau cup with now retired David Savard. And was also HC of the Team Canada U18 WJC team that won gold in 23-24.

When do you think Gardiner MacDougall get a shot to see if he can translate his coaching mind into the NHL.

If so what team do you see him going to? Before JQ got hired to the ducks I really wanted to see them at least interview him.

He's 65. That seems a bit old to begin an NHL career.

Maybe a few more successful seasons in the Q and he might start getting some interest but I don’t think NHL teams put much stock in Canadian University hockey success.

Moncton has never won the memorial cup

I doubt he would really even want to go to the NHL at this point.

From what it sounds like, he only took the job with Moncton to give his son an opportunity in hockey management, they came as a packaged deal.

Would love to see him be the U20 TC coach though, seems like such an obvious choice

I also remember seeing this around on another site. Would be cool to see one of the hottest coaches in Canada to get an opportunity. Thanks for answering my question :)

That's the most Maritime name I've ever seen.
Not only that, but he looks like every single gym teacher in the Maritimes from roughly 1980-2010.

Seems like a really good coach though. I doubt that the NHL would come looking for him so suddenly but he should probably be selected to coach the next WJC team.

Some people don’t have the same aspirations in their career, especially as they get older. If he’s happy in his job and comfortable financially why upset the apple cart? I can totally see someone not wanting to take on the rigors of an NHL coaching job at 65. Lots of NHL coaches retire at that age.
That's completely fair. He's already got a big enough trophy room right now as is. I just love speculating lol. (Also wouldve been cool to see him in charge of some high end talent like at the WJC.)

I'm in direct contact with all nhl gms, I have just forwarded them this thread so likely this year or the one after that.

I’m sure he is quite happy where he is.. especially at that age. Maybe one day he gets in as an asst coach somewhere, but I’m guessing he is quite comfortable where he’s at

Nice name. Reminds me of Groundskeeper Willie.
